Goodbye Bandit
 

One month. That is all we had with our sweet baby, one month, 3 days and 4 hours. From the minute we brought him home Bandit was our baby. He was so loving and friendly. We bought him for my daughter's 12th birthday. I've had pets before but this was our first Yorkie. We named him Bandit because he stole our hearts. Last Saturday he had a seizure. It was short and he acted strange for a short time afterwards. Again on Monday he had another one. The vet ordered blood work and we were waiting for the results to come back. He was referring us to a vet-neurologist. Last night at 10 pm he went into a seizure with convulsions. I tried to hold him in my arms but he was twisting and turning and crying out in pain. My husband grabbed him and drove to the emergency vet hospital.

They did everything they could for him. He was on an IV, valium, oxygen. They couldn't stop the seizure. They said he had a liver failure. He died around midnight. I am absolutly heartbroken. Some people might not think you get so attached in so short a time, but believe me you can. Thanks for reading my story. I'm just glad I had a place to remember Bandit. He was here and gone so quickly I wanted the world to know how wonderful he was and how much I love him.

OMG! I am so sorry about precious Bandit! He will be at the Rainbow Bridge loving you and waiting for you always until you get there to pick him up. What a precious little life. What did the breeder say?

Our hearts go out to you, Teri! At least little Bandit is not in pain any longer and he had a wonderful family that loved him when he was here. May he rest peacefully now...

The breeder said in 30 years he'd never heard of any such thing and he was sorry that Bandit died. Then he said we should have had an autopsy and he would have given us our money back if we could prove it was congenital. I don't care about the $1500. (or the $1000 for last night, either). He offered another dog but it wouldn't be fair to the dog to take another one because I will never love another dog like I loved Bandit. I would live in constant fear that something would happen to him. We had him cremated and will take his ashes. There was only one Bandit!

My heart really does go out to you it must have been such a shock (I know it was to me after reading your other post) Just know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and Bandit and that at least now he isn't in pain. Im sorry, words just cant express what I want to say to you *hug*

Thank goodness Bandit had you!!!! Sounds like you gave him the most wonderful home he could ever hope for. I am truely sorry that he was taken so soon! Let your heart have time to heal and then maybe get another Yorkie. That probably doesn't sound like a good idea now but I can't imagine not living with these little angels.

You might consider telling the breeder you will take another puppy later on. Maybe there will be another litter in a few months when you're feeling less raw.We got baby Lexy knowing she could never replace Gracie. We love her so much and it doesn't take any of our love from Gracie (RIP). We just love her for who she is and try not to compare her to Gracie. I hope your grief is mixed with happy thoughts of your angel. Elizabeth

I have lost pets before, so I know how hard this is for you. I still think about the ones I have lost, and smile when one of my new ones does somthing that reminds me of them. I have been so lucky to have had them in my life.

I hope your heart will heal soon, and I will keep you in my thoughts.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. Reading each message helps our family to heal. I couldn't imagine loving another dog but time will tell. I also can't imagine never having a little bag of trouble running around the house! We were blessed to have known him even for a month!

I can't imagine the pain! I have had max for a little under a month but I would be devestated if something happend to him, it's not hard to fall in love with a Yorkie, it only takes one second to know they're your babies.

That is about how long we have had Bella and I know how easy it is to just fall in love with them in that short time. I am so sorry to hear about your Bandit, but it sounds like you made his short life so full of love! You are in our thoughts

I\'m very sorry to hear the surprising news of Bandit. As soon as I read this post, I fondly remembered reading when you introduced Bandit and thinking how cute that name was for him. He was very lucky to have you and your family in his life. I\'m sure he\'s looking down and thinking the same thing.

I am soooo sorry. Did the groomer flea dip him or use a flea spray by any chance?
Please consider the breeders offer of another pup when the time is right...life is full of pain, we can not avoid it....the next time life is cruel to you, it is nice to have a sweet Yorkie to lick the tears away.

I understand what it is like to lose one so quick we only had lycan 3 weeks when she died. They make their way into our hearts quicker than anyone can think. May god be with you in your time of pain.

I have to believe that there is a special place in Heaven for pets. Your Bandit was a special part of your family. I am very sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry that little Bandit did not make it. I cannot imagine what you must be going through. These little guys do just "steal your heart". His name was perfect. I know you don\'t want another puppy now, but you would be wise to leave the possibility open for the future when your grief allows you to consider sharing your lives with another little fur baby. What happened to you is rare. While we cannot totally protect ourselves from the pain life brings, we can learn from it and realize that our lives are richer for having loved, even though we lost that love.
