It was short and he acted strange for a short time afterwards. Again on Monday he had another one. The vet ordered blood work and we were waiting for the results to come back. He was referring us to a vet-neurologist. Last night at 10 pm he went into a seizure with convulsions. I tried to hold him in my arms but he was twisting and turning and crying out in pain. My husband grabbed him and drove to the emergency vet hospital.
They did everything they could for him. He was on an IV, valium, oxygen. They couldn't stop the seizure. They said he had a liver failure. He died around midnight. I am absolutly heartbroken. Some people might not think you get so attached in so short a time, but believe me you can. Thanks for reading my story. I'm just glad I had a place to remember Bandit. He was here and gone so quickly I wanted the world to know how wonderful he was and how much I love him. | Terri- I'm sorry to hear of your loss. You can have a pet for a day, a week, a month and still get very attached. Its a family memeber and to loss your puppy that way is awful.
I am a first time yorkie/pet owner and back in December I purchased my yorkie from a place in Brooklyn. I had her not even three days and she got sick. I took her to the vet and they said it would cost $3000 to get her back to good health. I was torn b/c I didn't know after $1600.00 her if I could afford to spend tha kind of money on medical bills and the outcome to be that she would always have a chance of hypoglycemia. I called the owner of the place I purchased Chanel and they told me to take her to their vet. They weren't much help but said I would need to leave her with them (not the vet) the animal store. Long story short 10 days had gone by I would drive to brooklyn and visit and things weren't looking much better. A few days had passed from my last trip to Brooklyn, they called and said she would be better in a few more days.
In that time I ad mad some phone calls and found out the place I purchased her was know for selling puppies from puppy mills. I decided that I was not going to take her back. I would of taken her back if they had given me my money back and I would have kept her anyway but I knew she would go through her whole life being sick and they sold me a sick puppy.
It was a hard decesion and I on;y physically had her for 3 days but got so attached. Sometimes, things happen for a reason and at least although she suffered some pain she had you near her and didn't suffer alone.
My advise to you and your family, is take some time to heal and definitely get another puppy. If you purchased from a pet store I suggest you go and get your money back b/c that puppy was unfit for sale and there are lemon laws for dogs.
There are some great breeders out there that breed for show, not for sale but, not all their puppies are show puppies so they will sell them. That is how I got Ruby in February. She is a great puppy, of course not Chanel but brings happiness to my life and my families life. |
