Twice in 2 Days Oh my heart aches so badly! Saturday night my son ran in to my room and screamed that our lab was dead in the back yard. He had last been played with 2 hrs earlier and was just fine! He was young (3 yrs) and healthy and it was very shocking. My worst fear is that someone poisoned him. Yesterday our baby yorkie (10 months) started acting like she didn't feel well. I gave her some nutrical, some cooked eggs because she would not eat any food, and made sure she was drinking. Now, first I should say, she never acted "normal" to me. We got her from some people when she was 9 months old so we did not have her as a puppy. We have also a very small chiuaua and while they did play together, she just never seemed active. She slept far more than any other puppy we've even heard of and she never would eat very well. I did the nutrical, I took her to the vet, who gave her a clean bill of health, I also have papers from her first vet saying she was healthy. I woke up just a few minutes ago and she was gone! I feel like such a dr. death right now! I have no idea how I am going to break this to my kids when they wake up! I also have no idea how she went from OK to this so quickly! Is my home cursed? Oh this is the worst feeling ever! |
I am so so sorry to hear your news! Our prayers will be with your family in the next few days. I would first make sure that they didn't both get into something or have some illness. I definately would have the vet look at them and try to figure out what has happened. It isn't normal for such a healthy, young dog (meaning your lab) to just up and die for no apparent reason and 2 in 2 days would certainly raise flags for me. Many Prayers, Kim |
I just found a cord she chewed. I think maybe it sent electricity through her. I am goung to lose my mind over this! |
I am so sorry for your loss. I know you must be devastated to lose two babies in two days. I would do a search around the house and the yard looking for anything they could have gotten into. You don't have mushrooms in your yard do you?? They are poisonious to dogs. I really think they had to have gotten into something or ate something because you had two young and healthy dogs that all of the sudden died. Please do a thorough check to see if you can find anything and if not I would take them to the vet to see what caused their death. Again I am so sorry for your loss. Our prayers will be with you. |
Oh, heavens. I am so sorry. My prayers are with you and your family. |
OMG ! THAT's just horrible ! I'm so so sorry - I hate to say this too but it DOES ound like they got into something poisonous - for 2 young dogs to go like that it had to be something they ate .....I know that doesn't help you at all with your grief - but you need to check your home - and your yard too - I've heard horror stories about neighbors throwing things over fences ..... you have my condolences - what a tragedy for your whole family....:( |
Ohhh sweetie! I cant even find the words to describe how sorry I am. My thoughts and prayers are with you and will be for a very long time. I agree with the others that it sounds like maybe they both go into the same thing. If not then it was just a really strange coinsidence that they would both pass so closely to one another. Please try and stay strong and have faith that your fur babies are at rainbow bridge with all of the other little angels. Please keep us posted and let us know how you and your family are doing.:hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: |
Little Tinkerbelle never went outside in the backyard, I was too afraid she would get stung or bit by a bug or bee. I have looked all over the backyard to see about Buddy (our lab), but I haven't found a thing. She was just sick last night. We were worried. I think she was in poor health even when the vets who saw her said she was fine. She had either hypoglycemia or diabetes I am almost sure after reading past posts on this forum. We really tried to snap her out of it last night. We all prayed over right before we went to bed. I am not sending my kids to school today, this has just been SO very much for us to go through! We love our dogs like they are human members of the family, and I see our grief lasting a very long time. We did not get to have the little girl in our lives for very long, but she was such a joy for the moments we got to share with her! Thank you all for all the kind words! I really needed it during the hours when I was the only one awake and dealing with her loss. |
Sorry to hear your loss... It's so hard on a family when they loose their pets expecially two! I remember a boy in a grade school I went to that lived on a farm who came to school and tried not to cry when he told us that his dog was hit by a car at his bus stop. They should have let him stay home and grieve just as we would as adults. I'm glad we were their for him though. My heart goes out to all and the children who are so attached to their pets. The two spirits are now together and watching over your family. Many Blessings! |
If your yorkie never went outside, did your other dog come inside. Could they have gotten into soe \mouse poaison? On the electric cord that was chewed, was there a burn mark like it sparked, did it trip a breaker? That is so sad and I'm so sorry for your loss, but I believe I would have to investigate and get to the bottom of it. |
They get together, yes. I don't have any mouse poison, traps, nothing down low at all. My house is child proof. There was no coughing, no vomitting, nothing. The cord was a very low voltage cable wire, nothing tripped, but a sore I found on her upper gum. Please don't think for a moment that I am not trying to get to the bottom of this. I also feel very guilty for even taking her as an almost grown dog and not having more info about her very first months. I don't think the tragedies are related. She was sick. He was not. I posted about her before, her lethargy and SO many extra teeth. I am wondering if she was not doomed due to a backyard breeder who gave yorkie pups to all of her friends and relatives. We got her because she was alone all of the time, and until now, our dogs never were... they always at least had each other's company. I am racking my brain, and my heart is broken. |
I am so terribly sorry for the tragic loss of your babies. I know you and your family are heartbroken. I pray God will comfort you all in your grief and you will be able to remember your precious happy memories. Please allow us to help you cope. |
i am so sorry for your loss.. hugs to you sweetie |
I am very sorry for your losses. My thoughts and prayers are with you |
It sounds like to me your yorkie was gong through depression before she passed away.. .But I do not think that caused her death..I agree with most they both got into sometihng that caused both of thier deaths. I am so sorry for you and your chldren sending you hugs and prayers ...BLESSED BE... |
Oh my. This is so sad. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May both your furbabies forever rest in peace. :rip: :rip: |
My heart aches for you. To lose one furbaby is devastating enough, but to lose two is so short of a time is unbearable. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers for a long time. I will also say a special prayer for your little Chi to keep him safe and in your arms, out of harm's way. YT is here for your support, please use it. PM anyone if you just need to talk. Grief can be so overwhelming, and, sweetie, you and your family have alot of grief to deal with. Your two babies had wonderful lives with you and they will be watching over you now. Take care of yourself and your family and God Bless you all. Sandy |
Please, Please, Please, keep us updated as to what the final verdict was on your lab and the cause of death for Tink! Hugs, and Kisses!:( |
I'm sooooo sorry for your loss! Mitzi sends Yorkie kisses..... :aimeeyork |
We also have a beloved lab as well as our yorkies, and I can just imagine how devestating something like this would be for the whole family. I'm so so sorry. It could be a horrible coincidence, but for the sake of your remaining dog, I would definitely have an autopsy done. Let us know what you find out! |
I'm so sorry for what you and your family is going through. I just can't imagine how hard it is. |
We did not have our lab autopsied, he was my 14 year old son's dog, and I let him make that call. We have had him taken to a place called Angel Companions, a local pet cemetary and crematory. Tinkerbell will have tissue tests done today. Thank you all so much for the support, I can't even describe the emotions we are going through. |
I am still in tears over this. A 14 y.o. boy and his dog, to me, are the ultimate in companionship, best friends and shared trust. I can't begin to imagine the heartache your son must feel right now. Please, God, wrap your arms around this family and protect them from any more pain. God Bless. |
I am so sorry to hear about the double loss of your beloved dogs, they were very young and I do hope you find out what happend. I pray for you and your children for God to help you to get through this. Keep us posted please. |
I can't begin to say how truly sorry I am for your losses. All I can say is that you and your family are in my prayers sweety. God bless |
I am so so sorry for your losses - how heartbreaking. We are here for you - I hope you are able to find out what happened for your own peace of mind... Big hugs! |
{Hugs} to you and your family. That is truly almost too much for one family to bear. Prayers are being sent that your burden will be lightened. I know you have to hurt so very much.:( |
I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and your family. Anything is possible, but it would sure seem that the deaths were related somehow. It's so hard to believe that the lab could be fine one minute and not with us two hours later - maybe he choked on something. I would think even poison or a heart attack would have shown symptoms 2 hours ealier. I hope you can find an answer that makes sense so you can be a little more at ease about your other dog. |
I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what your family is going through. Your family our in our prayers. |
That is horrible! How traumatic for you and your family. My heart goes out to you. We have had two dogs poisioned. The first Whizzer (short for Whiskey, don't ask), was poisioned by rat poision. He didn't get into it, it was kept up and out of the way. A mouse or rat, not sure, got into the poision, had it on him, then drank and ate out of Whizzers food. Contaminating the dog dishes, then Whizzer drank and ate, in turn getting the poision in his system. Even if you personaly don't have any out, a neighbor could and its possible the same situation happened. Luckily we noticed something was wrong and took him to the vet, my Grandparents spend over $1,000.00 to fix him, and that was the 80's! My Dad's bird dog was def. poisioned. He had a bad habbit of getting out and hunting the neighborhood, digging in gardens and being a a nuisance. He also was known for getting on roofs and pooping, great huh? In my Dad's neighbor hood, most of the houses are surrounded by brick fences and all he had to do was get on top, and bam, he was able to jump on the the eves. He too was just fine before we found him dead, when we did find him, he was just hanging on, and the other dogs wouldn't go anywhere near him. It was terrible, but it was Dad's duty to keep them up. Had he been a little more careful, it could have turned out far better. |
