My 12 week old yorkie died My 12 week old yorkie died I only had her 2 weeks....she had congenital kidney failure... I did take her to the vet the day I got her they said she looked great. Then she wasn't looking good yesterday and I took her back to the vet. The did blood work and told me she needs to be admitted to the hospital. She had something wrong with her kidneys! I said omg I took her right away and they told me it didn't look good for her. I cried so bad I said how, why? She was my baby. They said one kidney shut down and they thought she had an infection so they were going to treat her. They said we need to sedate her a tiny bit to put a cath in I said well I know that can be very dangerous for such as small dog...the doctor who is wonderful and really tried to save her said well she needs iv antibiotics I said ok but please be so careful. She called me hours later saying he heart stopped and the were trying to bring her back. My baby died I am heart broken she was my love, my companion, my heart.... she was everything I always wanted. And now gone in a blink of and eye... be careful when buying puppies your you could end up like me. I am so scared now... how will I ever know when getting a puppy if it has problems... I called the breeder she said ok what do you want me to do? I can give you your money back but I will not take her back... she really doesn't care about the dogs only her pocket... She had congenital kidney failure...I tried everything to save her but wasn't enough... |
This is so sad brought a tear to my eye. Why didnt the vets pick this up in the health check. When we first got our yorkie i was constantly checking on him even woke up during the night just to make sure he was breathing. So so sorry about your little one. |
OH, I am so sorry! As for the breeder,if she is willing to return your money, take it. Put it in a safe place for later. The breeder seems to be more into the money than the little lives that she is responsible for. There will come a time when you are ready to let your heart love another little furbaby, the timing is up to you. I would like to urge you to spend some time here, doing research and making friends with those of us that really do understand how you feel. There will always be a place in your heart for this little one. |
She was my baby bella I wanted and waited so long for a dog just like her...and just gone... |
I am so sorry, take the money from the breeder and put it aside, and when your pain lessens, you can get another baby, Bella will always be in your heart, but she would be very happy for you to give all that love to another baby.. gentle hugs for you.. |
I am so sorry for your loss hon, you did all you could please take some time to grieve and remember we are here for you. ((((((hugs)))))) |
Hello and welcome to YT. I am so sorry for your loss. I would take the money and put it away. And when some time has passed. No other will take the place of sweet Bella but maybe another will give you a little joy. Please stay here with us. Join in our talks. Get some comfort. (( hugs)) rest in peace little Bella |
So sorry |
I am so sorry about your baby Bella. I agree with everyone else if the breeder is willing to give you the money back take it and put it away. |
I am so sorry for what you are enduring now....take the money back from the breeder.....she should also be picking up the vet bills on this precious little soul that SHE is responsible for bringing into this situation. At the very least, get your money back on the cost of little Baby Bella. Then, when the pain of the loss you are experiencing now, is not as raw, you can get another little baby that wont take Bella's place, but will certainly make her own place in your heart! In the meantime, you stay here and read and ask questions and learn.....and when you are ready for your new baby, find a reputable, ethical, responsible, breeder FIRST...one that cares for her babies almost as much as she loves her own children, because she knows she alone is responsible for litters she produces....and she stands by them for the life of that baby! |
I am so sorry...RIP sweet Bella |
I am so very sorry for your loss, like other said take the money and run, what about the hospital costs, that could easily have been higher than the cost of the pup Quote:

Me deepest sympathies to you on your loss of sweet Bella. What a sudden and horrible thing to go through. I am so sorry for your pain. Please know that you did all you could do for little Bella. You truly did. As for the breeder and the money, take your money back. I know Bella will always be your heart and you will never stop missing her and always love her, but in time...your heart will heal enough that you are ready to love another puppy. You will have that money set aside for when that time comes. I know it seems impossible - but that time WILL come, Sweetie. Hugs!!! |
Sorry for your loss. Hope to see you around more abd in a better place soon. Please take the above advice. |
I am so sorry for the sudden loss of Bella. I had a similar situation. I had gotten Pixie at 13 months from a reputable show breeder and she was just what I wanted. I also had my older pom and a 18 month old yorkie who I had gotten from a BYB and had many health issues. One day Pixie's breeder called me and said she had a little female that was 4 months old and was going to be just like Pixie and she wanted me to get her. So I went and picked her (Dixie) up a few days later. After about 3 weeks I noticed when she peed it was colorless and odorless. She was pretty laid back but all of mine are. Just wanting to check it out I took her in and they did blood work and urinalysis. Her kidney levels were so high they didn't register on the vets chart. I was devastated. I called the breeder and we both cried and she said she would have never sold her to me if she had known and I knew she wouldn't have. Even though my vet said there was nothing to be done I took her to a specialist and spent thousands on tests and medicines only to have her put to sleep a week later. My breeder told me that when I was ready she would give me another puppy. A month later she called and offered me my Roxie. When I went to pick her up she also helped with some of the medical bills. So my point is there is nothing you can do sometimes to prevent this from happening and a good breeder will grieve with you and do the right thing. I hope when you feel up to it you can get the money and use it to help heal your heart with another precious one. |
I'm so sorry to hear about your baby Bella. I too would recommend getting your money back so you can use it when you are ready for another yorkie. I'm sure with time you will want another one of these precious little babies. |
I am so very sorry for your loss of Bella. These babies steal our hearts right away, and that love forever remains with us. They each have different personalities, but they are all special. When you are ready, a new pup will help to heal your broken heart. I didn't think I could love another Yorkie as much as my first onie, but I learned very quickly how wrong I was. I honor the memory of my babies at the Rainbow Bridge by allowing myself to love again. We understand how much it hurts and are here to help. |
I'm so sorry for your loss, RIP Little Angel. |
So sorry :( this made me cry. |
I'm so sorry for your loss.... |
So sorry to hear about bella |
I am so sorry for your loss. I know how you feel. I just lost my bernese mountain dog on 12/18/2012. She was only 17 months old. I think the pain and tears are more severe when we loose them at such young ages. It is so hard. I feel your heartache. I have 2 yorkies that are older and that helps but my heart still aches |

Rest in peace young ones |
Your story made me so sad and sorry for Bella and you. Poor little girl. I hope that before too much longer you can heal and come to the point you can start to look for another Yorkie. It won't replace Bella to give another dog a home in time but it can be a wonderful help in healing and dealing with your loss while forming a wonderful new relationship with another darling baby. R.I.P, baby. |
I too lost a puppy at 12 weeks and the sadness you feel is terrible at any age so I feel for you and your loss. I agree with the other posters about getting your money back, your heart will always remember Bella and use the money to get another when you are ready even though you have lost your little one there will come a time when you will want another little baby. |
I wish I could give you a big hug. I'm so sorry this happened to you, but unfortunately it is a familiar story. I almost lost my Adie the day after I got her. It was the 4th of July and no vet was open. She would just lay around and moan if I picked her up. I was urged by several members here to take her to the emergency vet because she was only 7 weeks old, from a byb, and efforts to treat her for hypoglycemia weren't working. By the time I got her in she was pooping and vomiting blood. The day before she had been tearing around the house climbing (yes climbing) up the back of the couch and terrorizing my shepherd and shih tzu. She went down that fast. Long story short she had a virus that three vets couldn't identify but did know how to treat. $2000.00 and week later she was doing well and back to being a normal puppy. That week was horrible. I loved her so much right off the bat it was unbelievable so I know how you feel. I would have been so devastated if I lost her. I'm glad the breeder will give you your money back because there is another little girl or boy out there waiting for you when you are ready. Stay on here and make friends. The support you get will be invaluable. |
I am so sorry to read this about your little Bella. How awful to go through this I hope this breeder stops breeding puppies. This reminds me of a breeder we bought a yorkie from. Our little Keally had IBD since the day we brought her home and the breeder we bought her from was a cold person. We had her for 12 1/2 years and we dished out tons of money to keep her comfortable. We did go on and I learned as much as I could on YT. I found a wonderful breeder and now have a healthy little girl we love so much. Hopefully you can go on and find a very reputable breeder. Bless you because Bella knew you loved her and you gave her a wonderful home and medical care. Take care of. Susan |
I'm so very sorry for your loss. I know your heart is broken...as others have said, take the money, when the time comes that your heart doesn't feel so raw...get another pup to fill the hole in your heart. There is always room for more love. You will never forget bella, she knew how much you loved her...she is free from pain now and waits for you at the Rainbow Bridge. RIP Bella |
Rest in peace Baby Bella. So sorry for your loss, I know this doesn't help now, But some day there will room in your heart for another fur baby . God bless. Anne/Luci:animal-pa |
Hugs to you. I'm sorry this happened. Definatly get the money back... :( RIP Bella |
