I am so afraid. Koda was everything to me. We were inseparable. She was a 5lb furball and I am a 235 lb ex-athlete that can't stand the pain and loss.
We were walking in a posh Beverly Hills neighborhood at 8:30 pm. I had my baby on chain at my right foot, where she always walked. My friend was at my left walking my other dog. We were talking. I heard a sudden yelp from my girl. I turned and a large coyote had her around the neck and was already running up the middle of the street. God. I cant stop reliving this in my mind. I ran as fast as I could screaming Koda's name. I could see here beady eyes staring at me. Oh god. I felt helpless. I could almost feel her saying "help me daddy". I could not catch the coyote. All my strength and speed from college sports were no match. My baby was taken right before my eyes, in the heart of a residential neighborhood in Beverly Hills.

PArt of my spirit left with Koda the other night. I will never be the same. The past 24 hrs seem like 3 yrs. I am so devastated. I LOVED HER SO MUCH! She is in heaven now waiting for me someday. But damn, I am only 38, if I live to 80 that is 42 yrs away!!

I would appreciate any words of wisdom and encouragement.

Brett

Love How are you holding up?

Hi There!
I just joined this Yorkie Talk early March of this year. While browsing, I found your thread. I was speechless. I couldn't explain my emotion. I cried! I put down my Bichon last year of July and I could not get over my grief although I put him down due to old age. He was 18 years old. Then I noticed that this tragic event happened to your baby was just last Nov. I did not see any latest posting after November so I became very curious to know how you are. When my dog passed away, friends told me to get another dog. It upset me more as my baby was ireplaceable. Last Feb.2, I got a beautiful Yorkie and believe it or not, there's a sudden spark and light in my life again. She is quiet a handful so, I have no time to grieve anymore. I still miss and love Cuddles but life goes on. If you are still there, please answer my response to your thread. Thankyou in advance & God Bless and give you peace.

Rosita

I'm so very sorry for your loss ... I lost my 13-year old chow mix 5 days ago ... she fell in the pool and drowned. I'd never lost a dog in an accident before ... it's a whole different kind of heartbreak... it's absolutely crushing.

Both these stories are just shockingly sad. They are like my worst nightmares come true. I am so sorry for both of you. I would like to know if Brett got another Yorkie. I hope so. As for Yorkie Momma... I don't know what to say. How terrible and ghastly and shocking for you to have to see that happen to your sweet little puppies. Out of interest, what happened to the neighbour's dog? I'm not one to blame animals, but I absolutely and utterly loathe pit bulls and any other kind of bull terrier for this exact reason... they are absolutely useless breeds. No good to anyone or anything. I'm so sorry you had to lose your dogs under such awful circumstances

Thank you Lavinia for responding. Yes, I do have a very soft hearted, compassionate husband who loves animals and especially his "kids" as he calls our little dogs. He is like an old mother hen around them....and I'm glad.

Thank you Annie & Badger for your response. In answer to your question about the pit bull...it lived and far as I know, still living. 1 1/2 months went by after the death of our little dogs and we never heard a word or response of any kind from the neighbors and their big dog remained chained up at his dog house, constantly lurching and literally flying in the air at anything that moved or passed by. I felt I needed to do something in behalf of my innocent little dead dogs, so I took them to court and won judgement. They had a large sum to pay and still owe a small portion of it yet. Whether I'll get it or not, remains to be seen, but I did get most of the judgement in our behalf....altho, all the money in the world couldn't replace those 2 little pooches. In all honesty, I "think" I would feel like the hole in my heart was not quiet as deep if that dog had been put down permanetly. We no longer live in that area, due to losing our home a year ago by a fire, so all I know is the dog was still on its chain not long ago.

I have no love for pit bulls either, part or full bloodied. It ought to be against the law to breed such a dog. They are what they are by nature and like a wild animal you think is tamed, they too will turn on you. No other way to make me think differently.

Thanks for your sympathy and understanding.
Blessings to you!

Oh no. You lost your home too? This is terrible. It seems like that place was no good really. I hope things are looking better for you now . And I feel kind of sorry for that bull terrier. He obviously has a very rough time of it although I just don't think those breeds are worth anything. I've actually started a thread in the general discussion thread about the laws they have passed in Germany now with regards to most of the fighting breeds. They are rather controversial but I think they deal with the problem spot on and realistically. These are extremely dangerous animals. The courts are too dismissive of the way these dogs kill Yorkies but it's only a matter of time before most of them kill a child. I hope that little girl that lived next door is safe from that dog. If that had happened in England, a judge would have moved to have that dog euthanised which is probably the best thing for it

In any event, all our best wishes. You seem to have made a strong recovery from it all but I'm sure it must be heartbreaking to think about. Poor darlings. Lots of love and hugs, Annie & Badger x

i dont get it??? how cant you not know a wolf is eating your dog? he said he did have a leash and was talking to someone at that time. and he was an ex-athlete. so his awareness and strenght...he should have noticed the wolf and would be able to pull his yorkie back to him since he had her on a leash?
