| Piper, you are missed! We had an 8 year old, rescue Yorkie, named Piper. He was a joy to our family. We learned that a dog is not just a dog, but truly part of the family. Last year-2008-he was hit by a car on Thanksgiving day. Piper loved sunny, cool days, like that Thanksgiving day-so we kept on letting him out. Awhile after, our neighbor called and asked us if we were looking for Piper because they thought they saw him by our entrance gate. My dad went out there and he was dead. We were all extremely devastated, but glad he didn't suffer. Everyone cried, even my dad, and all the neighbors were sad. Piper had no external injuries so we wrapped him in his favorite blanket and had a mini "funeral service" later. We miss him still, but are glad we have good memories. January, after that Thanksgiving, my mom surprised us with a new Yorkie-we named him Chip. Chip is a good fit to our family. My dad had always said Piper was the "One and only.", but, of course, that didn't happen. Our family isn't complete without our Yorkie, Chip! Now, sice we don't want a repeat of our tragedy with Piper, we take more precautions to protect Chip. We use leashes more and a have an underground fence. We miss Piper, but are glad we have Chip. He fits in perfectly. Dogs, ecspecially Yorkies, are special and just like another family member. |
