| R.I.P. Spike Yesterday was absolutely the worst day of my life... I woke up early thinking about what was supposed to have been an awesome day! I had bought concert tickets for a couple of friends and their wives a few months ago and that day was finally here! One friend had come from out of town and was to come by and spend the day before the concert. I must have laid there thinking about the day for over an hour before getting out of bed... As I walked past the doors to our pool I noticed our 11 month old Yorkie Poo female, Gypsy, racing around the pool in a panic so I went to the door to get a better look as it was still a bit dark... To my horror, there was my best friend, a 3 year old Yorkie Poo male named Spike, floating in the corner of the pool at the steps by our room where the water was only 4" deep... We have taught them where the steps are and they have gotten themselves in and out of the pool on many occasions so we were never worried about them around the pool. The three of us are devestated by this... Spike was the best dog I have ever owned with the most lovable disposition. Words can not describe the tremendous hole in our hearts, but as if this tragedy wasn't enough, even worse is seeing what a huge part Spike played in Gypsy's life. She hasn't eaten in two days and keeps looking for him - first in the pool and then all around the house. Then she goes and lays on their blanket and stares at the door. Every time she hears a dog bark, she runs to the door and waits to chime in with Spike... But when he doesn't bark, she goes and lays back on their blanket... It is heartbreaking to watch. Twice I have woke her from what I'm sure is her swimming franticly as all four feet are racing madly and she is disoriented when she wakes. As this whole tragedy keeps replaying in my mind, I don't know what hurts the most... Knowing I was probably wide awake a mere ten feet away when he died, the terrifying panic he had to go through in the last moments of his life or knowing that poor Gypsy had to helplessly watch as he drowned... My dear, sweet Spikie... I am so sorry... I loved you more than you will ever know and I miss you so very, very much! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am so sorry. Try to think of the good times. I lost my pom a few months ago and she was Pixie's best friend. She was very sad for weeks and always thought when I came home that Maya would be with me. She did get better so give her some time to grieve and yourselves. My heart goes out to you.

| I am so sorry you had to go through this. I have lost 2, a yr. apart, and it has to be the worst pain I have ever gone through. My heart goes out to you. What really hurts is they mourn for each other. It broke my heart just seeing how they understand a loss and hurt too. No words at this point is going to help but I do know time helps. Its hard to conceive right now but with time it does get better. God bless. |
