Joan, I am so very sorry about the loss of your sweet Crystal. On Sunday, we were on our deck, and Winston had jumped up onto the lounge chair, and had continued to crawl up the back of the chair, which made him high enough to crawl over to the top of our railing of the deck. I jumped out of the pool and got him before he did do that, but him getting that high had never even crossed my mind. Our cat does do the balance beam thing around the top ledge, but would Winston try that?
Winston sometimes does those cat like feats like balancing on the back edge of a chair in the house, and I had never imagined him doing stuff like that on the deck till Sunday. That exact thought of Winston chasing Silki our cat through the deck slats occured to me Sunday. And on Monday, with Crystal's story, so sadly I can now see how easily it can happen. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Rest In Peace Sweet Crystal.

I just wrote this very long post and it must have been too long and didn't post. We were at my friends for Sat. Sun. and part of Monday, she and Taffy were having a ball running around. I always keep the sliding glass door open so they can run back and forth from the deck to the kitchen. She jumped off the deck she had been on hundreds of times (I take care of the kids 3 times a week) but she may have been chasing the cat) or so the cat and reacted without thinking. She won't even jump from the sofa because it hurts her knees. I was out of my mind when I saw her and she was still alive but they could do nothing. She broke her neck and other bones too. It was a peaceful death, I left a bucket of tears in that office and Dr. Willard cried too. Sheryl, Eric and kids were over last night and I told them if I had to pick a last day with her, it would be with Taffy having fun. I need a couple weeks but will be back. Hugs, Joan

I am so sorry. I have no words but to say that Crystal had many internet friends and we are all just devastated by her loss. She had such a wonderful life with you and I hope your wonderful memories of her will ease your pain.

I know that's how she was when you was younger and I'm so glad you were there. Since Crystal is (was)14 her knees were not good so she didn't jump up or down but she must have thought she was Peter Pan for just one moment. I am SO GLAD you posted this so a chair to close to the deck fence could end up in a horrible accident. Thank you for your prayers they do help and thank you to all that posted since I was on last.

Joan, my heart is breaking for you.. first post I have seen this morning.. and I am soo very sorry..I know what it is like for a sudden death.. and know exactly how your feeling and that is the hardest part of these threads for me..I know the heartbreak..
