Well, I won't be moving close to Houston. I will be moving to Borger. I don't think there's much to do there. I don't really want to move but that's where my husband is so I guess us wives have to do what we have to do. LOL! |
Texas move You will love the weather in Texas. |
Another Kansan 1 Attachment(s) Hello! This is Gabe and we live at Edgerton, Kansas on a farm. He was a Christmas present from Heather and Gracie. She found him for us in Pittsburg where she lives and attends PSU. He is a year and a half old, a busy boy and a lover. |
Bump and Get together I'm bumping this message up again to find more Kansans! BTW how did the get together go? Is there anyone willing to email all of us Kansans to let us know when the next one is? Hope you all don't have too much snow or ice left wherever you are! We got hit all over the state! Let me hear from you! :aimeeyork |
Notes on Gabe We are a new family for Gabe since he was over a year old when we received him as a Christmas present. Heather W. who has a post on here is our granddaughter and Gracie, her sweet little Yorkie. We live 40 miles southwest of Kansas City. Gracie lived with us all last semester and we fell in love with her. Gabe had a vet visit yesterday and $110 later he was pronounced a healthy 9 and 1/2 lb. busy boy! |
Fellow Kansan... Hello. We are fellow Kansans too (Lenexa, Kansas). "We" being my 13 year-old "Chewbud" (papers say he's a Yorkie, but he looks more like a Silky, Brad (my husband), and I. Greetings to all of you! By the way, does anyone know of a good Vet in the Kansas City area? Peace & Joy. |
Rosemary W. Hi, Salshine. We don't live to many miles apart. You asked about a good vet in the area. Oakbrook Animal Hospital in Gardner, Ks. has two that are excellent. We took Gabe to Larry Garten,DVM for his first visit, shots, etc. My son in Gardner who owns a English bulldog uses him and thinks he is the best. Phone # for them is 1-888-884-8780. Hello to all you Kansans! "Let the Sun shine in on a cold winter day." |

I don't think there are any get togethers planned. Maybe we could start one?? I think the Kansas people have only had 1 which was about a year ago!:p It was fun!!:D |
Rosemary: Okay, you're not too far away at all. Thanks for the recommendation on a vet. Chewbud is 13 yrs old and I'm starting to see a variety of things going on with him (loosing his sight, he's been not chewing his food well and then throw it up, foul breath/teeth, etc.). Sounds like Gabe is about the same size as Chew! Other than the above, Chew has been in exceptional health and I can't help but wonder whether the bigger yorkies are naturally more hearty! Anyway, nice chatting with you! |
salshine and chewbud Hello, salshine. It sounds like chewbud is having major health problems, probably age related. I recommend Dr. Garven, he is so gentle and kind hearted. When he checked Gabe he told me to try to get him use to brushing his teeth. So far I have the toothpaste and he likes the taste but not sure about the brush! Is chewbud a soft curly Yorkie or the longer, wavy haired kind? You can tell from Gabe's pic. his is sleek and wavy. We've had him about 6 wks. now and see improvement everyday, anyway we think we are still the boss in this house. Enjoying your posts |
Rosemary: He's actually been acting alot better lately (hasn't vomited in 3 days!) What kind of toothpaste does Gabe like? Chewy has the silky/wavy type hair. |
Originally from Southern California... I might as well post on this board too. I was born outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, moved to Southern California when I was an infant. Surprisingly enough, the Wisconsin accent still comes out!!! I moved to Salina last August, and after about 2 months of getting used to living so far away from home, I'm not afraid to admit that I  it here! Yesterday, was beautiful and in the 60's...I don't think that it will get that warm again today. |

Yes you are right yesterday was so nice!!! I'm ready for spring!!! |
It's WHEAT!!! I lived here long enough to know how upset you get when people say "Kansas, they grow corn..." My roommate was in California with me over winter break. She kept saying, "It's WHEAT!! Nebreaska & Iowa grow corn!" It was quite hilarious...I guess you had to be there :) 60 degrees yesterday and we're back to freezing today :( |

Yes that wind will cute right through you! SO COLD! |
Amondo Hi and welcome to Kansas. I hope you will post a pic. of your dogs soon. We are new Yorkie owners and this is a great posting page. Gabe is 17 months old, a Christmas present from our kids! Bit of a barker but we are working on it! What an attitude he has....I live in eastern Ks., have traveled I-70 many times and know Salina well. We love the flint hills to the south of you. No place any prettier than those hills in the spring! We are native Kansans and love it. Hope you will tell me more about your dogs. |
Kelly 353 Hi Kelly. Your girls are beautiful and love the outfits. Where do you live in Kansas? I always hate it when people ask if Kansas is really as flat as a pancake! Our daughter/family live in San Diego and she takes a lot of kidding about being from Kansas and the tornados. |
salshine A chilly Feb. morning with light snow in the air...remembering last week one day when we were 57 degrees! Ks. has ever changing weather. Glad Chewbud is doing better. The toothpaste I got for Gabe I found at WalMart, has a beef flavor which he loves...but hates any sign of a brush!! So much for my dental ability. I have to keep him in on a leash when outside and all he wants to do is run. Backyard is not fenced in and we live on a busy highway. |
Rosemary... 3 Attachment(s) Izzie comes to live with me on Monday! :D We're driving to Manhattan to pick her up. I'm looking forward to getting my new baby girl and some Chipotle. :) These pictures are from the breeder's house... Why is it *SO* cold today? :( |
Amando Amando, did you get Izzy home? Anxious to hear all about her Our snow is all gone and in the 50's. Kansas springtime is just around the corner. (I hope!) Gabe loved the snow. |
We're in Kansas I am actually from Oklahoma, but have lived in Pittsburg, KS for about a year and a half while I am in college here. I am a very new member so I don't have things all set up yet! :D |
Rosemary 3 Attachment(s) Yes, Izzie is home!!! :D She's been home for a week and is adapting VERY well. She loves everyone, which is great, because my boyfriend thought that she was going to be one of those dogs that gets scared whenever anyone touches her. The vet loves her and said that she's extremely healthy. We only had one accident yesterday...and so far one today. I'm very impressed, she goes on her piddle pad all by herself. After class tonight, she's getting her first bath. She's going to hate me. ;) I'm so glad that the snow is gone!!! I had to drive my boyfriend to the Kansas City airport on Friday night...the weather was CRAZY with the blowing snow and wind... |
psugorilladdr Hi and welcome to the Kansas Yorkie bunch. Gabe, our 18 month old Yorkie is a handfull, a Christmas present to us. Our granddaughter, Heather W. is a senior at PS. Gracie is her soul mate, a sweet little 6 lb Yorkie. |
amando What a sweetie Izzie is! She looks just like our grandpuppy, Gracie , looked the first time we saw her. Sounds like she is going to be easy to get trained. How about this Feb. thaw??? Kansas weather...always changing! |
Hey to all fellow Kansans! I have posted before , but popping in again. Live in NE Kansas. North of Manhattan. My family has several yorkies. 3 standards, 3 Biewer yorkies, and a yorkie mix that started the whole small dog thing for us! |
Kathy 785 Hi, Kathy. I looked up Biewer yorkie page on the internet and what beautiful lititle yorkies. I have never seen one of them, but could fall in love very quickly with one! I live in eastern Ks. and waiting for spring to arrive. Our Yorkie, Gabe, is 18 mts. old but still acting like a puppy! Some good and some bad about that. |
Hear ya on spring! If Mother Nature could just decided to stay warm! We had quite a spell of bad weather and snow two weeks ago. Did you get all of that too? |
Kathy 785 Kathy, it is 70 degrees here this afternoon and very little wind....wonderful. I took Gabe for a long walk/run, then gave him a bath so he is passed out for awhile. That big storm you had a couple of wks. ago didn't leave much damage here. I am southwest of Kansas City on a farm. Everything is getting green! RW |
I am from Olathe, KS. Nice to see other Kansans on here. I actually got my yorkie on the Missouri side. |
Nicky Welcome Olathe Kansan! I live 8 miles west of Gardner so we are pretty close together. Gabe is our first Yorkie to call our own, a busy active 10 lb. boy. Hope you will post a picture of yours soon. RW |
