| KS orthopedic surgeon Does anyone have a recommendation for an orthopedic surgeon in KS for luxating patellas? My rescue Pommie has been diagnosed with grade 4 luxating patellas and needs to have surgery at the beginning of summer. He is only 9 mo. old and I am heartsick for him. But he is a rescue and I knew we could face something like this. My tiny Yorkie had one knee done at the Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital of Wichita with Dr. Michael Nawrocki as the surgeon. She still favors the knee that he did but I don't think she is in any pain. My local vet said that she spoke to another vet who agreed with her that Dr Nawrocki has provided some successful outcomes for them. Any opinions/ideas?

| Maybe try Kansas State University Vet School. I have taken horses there before, but never the dogs. My regular vet talked about sending a pup down there, but he got better (the dog not the vet! LOL) My regular vet has done patella surgery on on of my dogs. |

| I would definitely come to Kansas State. Dr. Roush is an excellent orthopedic surgeon. Here's the link to the small animal surgery webpage. http://www.vet.ksu.edu/depts/vmth/SA.Surgery/index.htm Please feel free to ask if you have any questions!

| Has anyone heard of Dr Byers at Companion Animal Hospital in Wichita? My vet gave me his number. When Cocoa had her first knee done I checked our KSU and they were much more expensive than Dr. Nawrocki. Wonder how quality of work compares? Rhetorical question.

| I haven't heard anything about Dr. Byers....but you may want to give KSU a call. They'll let you consult with the doctor over the phone and give you a estimate, etc. You'd at least be able to "feel" the doctors out that way. IMO, I'd probably pay a little more for quality

| Your welcome! I just hope you are able to find a vet that you like and is able to help you out. Let me know if you'll be coming to Manhattan. I can show you around if you'd like.
