Southeastern Ohio Meetup (Interested?)
 

Okay, so I'm planning to have a meetup and wanted to see how many of you would be interested in attending. As of right now, we plan to have it in the Dover city park on August 25th. I'll be bringing hot dogs and hamburgers to grill and anyone interested in attending can bring a covered dish. I'll also provide plates and utensils. There will also be door prizes and any breed of small dogs are more than welcome to attend. If you are interested let me know! :)

I am interested!! It would be me and hubby and at least 3 yorkies and 1 Morkie!!

Where is Dover City Park?

It's close to New Philadelphia, Ohio, if you know where that is. I looked it up on mapquest and it says that Dover is about 371 miles from the Kentucky border.

371 miles..:eek: I thought that if it was South eastern.... it may be closer to the KY border!

wow i sure wish I could come. we wont' be comming to Ohio until oct or nov. it is a 3 day trip for us. I want to see pics tho. Have fun meeting everyone.

Dover is about 2 hours from Cleveland 2 hours from Columbus and about four hour from Cincinnati.. 20 minutes from Canton/Akron area

Yea, once I looked up how many miles I kind of figured it'd be too long of a trip for you. :( I'll post a bunch of pictures for everyone to see though, so it'll almost be like you were there. :)

You might still be going to the one in Cincinnati though, right? If I can make that one hopefully we'll see each other there. :)

Okay, I've been trying to work on getting some activities together for the meetup. I can't think of very many, but here's what I have so far.

First off, we'll have a photo shoot, where I'll take my digital and get group shots of everyone who came. Of course, everyone is more than welcome to take that opportunity to get some photos for themselves too. :) I'll be posting these pictures here for everyone to see, unless of course someone wishes not to have their pictures posted. Just let me know. :)

Second, I'm not real sure about this one, as it seems a little too childish, but here goes. I was thinking of getting a poster of a Yorkie and then making up little bows and it would be like pin the tail on the donkey, but instead pin the bow on the Yorkie. Like I said though, I doubt I do this one, as it is a bit on the childish side and so far I don't think we have any kids (besides the dogs) coming. lol

Here's another idea I had that might be a good or bad one, let me know what you think. You know how in the high school year books they vote for prettiest smile, most likely to succeed, etc. Well, I was thinking we could like put one together for the dogs. Obviously it wouldn't be an actual book, but a photo album instead and whoever wants one could pay like $10 or something and I'd put it together and send it via snail mail. It would have all the group pictures, just some general pictures from the meetup and then there would be a section that would have the pictures of the dogs that were voted prettiest, best coat, etc. What do you think? I'd make up ballets and everyone can look all the dogs over and make their choices from there. I think this would be a nice idea and a nice little momento for everyone to keep and remember the day with. :)

LOL no no silly woman. Maybe people just forgot to come check the thread!!

I just hope they don't forget about it completely. I don't want to be sitting at the park all by myself with my little ones and a bunch of hot dogs and hamburgers waiting on no one. Do you think I should put up fliers locally to maybe get more people to come? I'd put the date and time, but leave out the place and put if you want to know more call me and I'd give them details to where it is. I don't figure it would be the brightest idea to advertise that there will be a lot of expensive dogs all in one place. You just never know who would notice the fliers and it's better to be safe than sorry, especially when our little ones are involved.

This coming Saturday, the 4th. You are always more than welcome to come to the one in Dover on the 25th though. ;)

Hi everyone - what a great chance to meet YTers from Ohio - Izzy and I will be there - so count us in. Sounds like so much fun. I've lived in Ohio my entire life and haven't been to Dover so this will be interesting. :D Just give us the full address/location so that I can plug this into the GPS system so we don't get lost..hehehe.

Hi everyone! I really want Paddington to meet some playmates his size (right now he hangs around a 60 lb great dane! :eek: ) so we'll be there! Just me and my Paddington Bear! (I doubt I could get my boyfriend to come to this!)

You mentioned on another thread that you need ex-pens. I just bought one this weekend, and wouldn't mind bringing it! It's only 16' when extended, but if other people bring theirs, we could hook them all together to make a good-sized area!

I think we should have a race of some sort... when I think of picnic games, I always think of relay races :p

Awesome! Can't wait to meet you and Paddington. :D And I know what you mean about getting your boyfriend to come. I'm practically having to pull teeth to get my hubby to come and not to mention we'll be going to another meetup this Saturday. So, two meetups in one month, I'm going to have to pay big for this. lol

And yes, we do need ex-pens. I do believe we have 3 more ex-pens that 2 other people are bringing, so hopefully we'll be able to get a nice area for the little ones. :)

Oh, and do we want to have a doggy toy exchange? Anyone who would want to participate would just bring a $5-$10 toy wrapped or in a gift bag and they would get one in return, or however many you bring if you have multiple furbabies. Yay or nay? This would be optional also, so only those that want to participate in it would bring a toy or two.

Yes, most definitely needs to be a nice day. The picnic tables are under a shelter, but I still would like it to be a nice sunny day so that we'll be able to do things, as opposed to having to sit under the shelter the whole time. I know I wouldn't like that very much and I can definitely tell you my furbabies would not much appreciate it either. *starts praying to the weather gods* lol

Lemme check...according to mapquest from Pittsburgh to Dover it would take 1 hour 59 minutes and it's about 98 miles apart. So, not a real bad commute, depending on how far you are willing to travel. I hope it's not too far and that you decide to come though. :D The more the merrier and I can't wait to meet everyone and their furbabies!
