| Male vs Female Yorkies Hi, I am new to this forum. I came upon it as I was looking for a breeder in Michigan after we lost our 8 month old, Ellie, to a congential issue in mid-October. Ellie was our first dog. We have had five cats over the course of our married life, but never a dog. Our daughter got her first Yorkie last year and we promptly fell in love. Since we were newly retired we thought we now had the time to really devote to caring and loving a pup. Ellie came into our lives in May and we finally realized what unconditional love was! She stole our hearts with her antics and made us laugh everyday. You can imagine how heartbroken we have been over losing her so quickly. Let me say that we researched getting a Yorkie and the folks we purchased her from appeared to be good folks. However, they were not breeders per say, and it appears that this particular pair had never been bred before and unfortunately, there was a genetic issue. In retrospect, we should have been more careful in our selection, but were so anxious to get our pup. We have learned our lesson. And that is what brought me to this forum. I knew that we had to get another Yorkie, but didn't know where to find a reputable breeder. As I read through, Breny Green's name of Treasured Yorkies kept coming up. I went on her site and read the wonderful reviews. I finally emailed her and have submitted an application. I am hopeful and very excited at the prospect of getting one of her beautiful babies in the near future. So, this leads me to this question...male vs. female? Our daughter's male Yorkie is an equal opportunity lover. He loves everyone. Our Ellie was attached to me! She loved her daddy, too and if I was gone she would be with him, but if I was around, it was all about her mommy. Could you please share some of your experiences regarding gender? I have told Breny that I would like another female, but wonder if I should be more open. Thank you so much. |

| It has been my experience that those little boys just absolutely live to adore you and make you love them! Little girls can have a prissy little attitude, just like a little girl can....they can be somewhat moody on occasion, and they seem to be more "one person" babies....I adore them all!! Those little stubborn, strong willed, sassy little darlings.....they all just wrap me around their paws.....!! |

| Hello and welcome to YT. I am so sorry to hear about your little Ellie's passing. I can't really tell you about the difference because i have 2 girls, One of my girls is from Breny and i must say that you will definitely be very happy with one of her pups whether you get a boy or girl. Good luck and please keep us posted

| hi, welcome to yorkietalk I have never owned a female yorkie, but Max does exactly what you described...he is super attached to me and when i'm around he prefers being with me. but he also loves his daddy and when i'm not around he's all over daddy. So i don't think that's something that only females do

But as Yorkiemom said little girls are just that girls . . And the little boys are momma boys lol. Me . . . . I love the little boys |

| I'm biased for male dogs, personally. They just seem more loving for everyone where as most females I know (though I love them dearly) seem to have more attitude and are more choosey about who THEY want to love or be around.

YT Addict | I'm so sorry to hear you lost your little yorkie at such a young age. How heartbreaking! We just lost our 6 year old little boy in August. He was a quirky little sweetheart. Just this past Saturday we welcomed home 2 of Brenda's babies, a little girl and little boy. The best of both worlds LOL! They are wonderful little pups and we are so happy! I hope it won't be too long before you are bringing home your new yorkie to love. Male or female, I think they both have endearing qualities. |

| I have a male and he's a mama's boy. Period, lol. He loves Daddy and likes people, but it's mama first and no one else exists in the room (unless he thinks I'm being threatened). But there's always an outlier!

| There are definitely pros and cons for both... I would love to have a little girl that I could dress up in adorable dresses and bows...

| Welcome to YT! Ok, I am opposite of most of those who have posted. I have two girls and LOVE it!! Girls are so much fun to dress up and make prissy!! My Rosie is a lovable baby girl. She lets me carry her around on my should just like a baby. Well, I do think she believes she is a human! Anyway, I say girls!!

YT 1000 Club Member | I say go with what your heart feels. I can't say which sex is better. I have 2 boys that are more love everyone equally well except my Sister In Law. LOL my girls. One is my heart but she also loves attention from everyone especially members of the opposite sex. then there is another who like the boys loves everyone but she loves me best. Then the last one Well she is truely special because although she likes attention from everyone I had better stay in her sight or I am in trouble. Then I have alot of friends with Yorkies and they are just in awe because I can go to their homes and I become a dog magnet.
