Tatertot - You are not alone! Piccolo and I love this thread and it has been great getting to know everyone. I left you a note on your profile page, but will ask the same question again. Is this the weekend you get Bandit or is it next weekend? We can't wait to hear all about it! :) Lindabjk - It sounds like you have been very busy. Wow! Hope all goes smoothly for you. It is fun keeping up with how every one is doing:)! Then we will feel like we know everybody already when we finally meet in the fall;)!!! Lisa is Piccolo still limping or has it settled down? Did you say Piccolo is 3? Have a good weekend everybody! |
I brought Wennie home today. Here is my question. I started immediately on Nutri-cal before we even left the breeders. She was great on the 2.5 hour ride home, sleeping a lot. At home we played for awhile and she would take another nap. And would play again. Now she is sleeping again and has for about the past hour. I gave her another dose of Nutri-cal over an hour ago just to be sure. Is this normal puppy behavior for the first day. It has been so long since I have had a puppy around and with all the stories of hypoglycemia I just want to make sure that everything is normal. When she plays she is bright eyed and bushy tail, ready to take on the world. She has played most of the afternoon and evening with the girls besides her little cat naps. I'm just a worried new momma. |
She has also eaten a little bit since we got home, not a whole lot. That was about 3:30. She has drank water and has done a #1 and #2 with no problems. I posted this on the Health thread too just in case. I thought I would ask here first though. |
Congratulations!! Boy what a big day it is for you today!!:) Winston did sleep a lot when we first brought him home.....the same regimine as Wennie play and sleep etc. I am not knowledgeble on the nutrical, but from being a member on yt I see that a lot to keep them from getting hypoglycemic. I just fed Winston with regular puppy Eukabana and he did fine, no hypoglycemia. We fed 3 meals a day and made sure he wasn't stretched out too long without eating. Again Congratulations! If you get a chance, we would love to see a homecoming picture! |
I don't know whether to be worried or not. She is so tiny. Less than 2 and a half pounds. Part of me I believe is just being a worry wart. Thanks for replying so quick. I will post some pictures soon. I think I am going to have my hands quite full though for the next few days.;) |

Lisa K. - You asked about Piccolo..... She is not limping anymore, so that is good news. But, she will always have the LP, until the vet tells me she is ready for surgery. I'm not sure when that will happen. Thanks for asking. Also, she is 3 years old. aerilla - Yea! Wennie is home! It sounds like she is doing well. Keep us posted on her activities and sorry I do not have knowledge of Nutri-cal. Lisa and Piccolo |
I posted yesterday about my pups not needing the nurta-cal. thank god we had some. We had a scare with Meaty today. He was acting funny all day, sleeping constantly and wobbly when he walked. We started thinking about it, and we had been giving him treats when he goes potty outside. Well, we realized that he ate none of his food yesterday only treats. they don't have the calories or the nurtition he needs. We did some research on how he was acting and we had the nurta-cal on hand and gave him some. About an hour later he is getting back to his old self. So aerialla by all means if your unsure give your pup the nutra-cal. |
Hi all, I am from Ohio. My name is Brandy and I live in downtown Sandusky. Congratulations to all of you who are getting your new puppies !! It's such an exciting time! Good luck to all of you new Yorkie Parents:) I have a little boy Yorkie names Jeter who is 7 months old now. I got him at 9weeks old. He was also only 1 pound 2 ounces when i brought him home and now at 7 months old he is 2 pounds 5 ounces. His vet said he is not going to be the 4 pounds he was thought to reach, instead he might hit 3 pounds so he is a tiny one. My breeder did recommend that I keep Nutra cal on hand in the fridge just in case we should need it. When my mother and I are able to start breeding our Yorkies, we are going to have Nutri cal in our puppy package for all new parents to have. I have used it on Jeter a few times when he wouldn't eat just to be on the safe side. |
Hi adorame!! Wow Jeter is going to be a tiny one isn't he!? Winston is 7 months old too and weighs about 3.4 currently. I am guessing he will probably be about 4 pounds full grown. His father was that size. Jeter is a really cute name! |
Hi Adorame... Welcome to this thread. It looks like you have been on YT way longer than I have been. Wow! Lots of posts. Piccolo and I think your Jeter is very cute. Lisa K. - Love your new picture of Winston. Lisa and Piccolo |
