I am worried about them too. I bet she is probably in one of the shelters provided for the ppl of the fires or she is at a family member's home and doesn't have internet. I hope she is safe!

I wish I could hear from SOMEONE.. anyone.. this situation is not about me, but about these poor families who have lost everything they own. And when they get to a "shelter" they must turn thier pets over to animal control until they can return home. I would hate to think of one of our own YT'rs having to hand over thier babies to sit in a cage until they can retrieve them. I think if it was me, I could handle sitting in a shelter myself, but I wouldnt want that for my babies.

I am so hoping that we can hear good news from Payton soon.

Oh that would be so heartbreaking. I hope that everything is okay and that she would not have to give her baby to animal control. Even if it was only temporary. Praying for a safe return to her her home with her family and furbabies.

I have no idea what part of SD she's in. If I had an address I could go check on her. She's not at the shelter we have been working with, as we have checked in on the furbabies there and there are no Yorkies.

It's been a really bad week. Friends have lost everything, you really have no idea what to say to them. For now, hugs help, and just telling them they are safe is more important than anything else. My sister took in three families, they will stay there with her as long as needed. Her children are all grown so she has the room.

All schools in San Diego have been closed all week, some will open on Monday, but the students will have to stay inside.
At the shelters all the little kids are having a great time, they think they are out on a camping trip, with really no idea whats going on. It's the teens I'm worried about. You can tell they are scared, upset and confused. Our son worked 24 hours straight at the shelter last night, he came home this morning, to get some sleep, and said he's going back this afternoon. He said he needs to be there to help because it's helping him deal with all of this.

When i was watching the abc special i saw many ppl with their pets in the shelters, do diff. shelters have diff. policies? Many ppl had dogs, birds, etc. Some ppl were even camping with their dogs and had tents set up. I wish i were there to help.

Most of the shelters let you take them, but there are a few that said no. That's why there have been shelters set up for pets only. The shelter in Del Mar has been set up with one side for people and one side for pets because of health reasons. As much as everyone loves pets, there are a few that can't be near them.

Ah Gina, I have tears in my eyes reading your post. Those poor, anxious people at the shelters. I am sure that for some of those teens you describe, it must all seem somewhat surreal for them. All these displaced souls, their lives were turned upside down in a matter of hours.
Bless you and your family for what you are doing. Please keep us posted. I wish someone on YT had more info on Payton, so that we could have the reassurance that she is okay. I can't stop worrying about her circumstances, and I don't even know her personally. Again, I am just so happy that YOU are okay, and that your home was unscathed.

I love San Diego; how tragic it is, what has happened in that beautiful city.

Your son deserves extra hugs today. What a wonderful boy. I am glad to hear that some of the shelters allow people to keep thier pets. I guess I was just relying on what I had heard on the news about Quallcomm stadium. Still praying for Payton's safe return.

Thanks Joan, I sure will. We are very proud of him, he's a wonderful kid.
Next year he will graduate from SDSU, and will leave for Med School. Not sure how I will cope with that, he grew up way too fast.
