What a sweetie! That is quite a bit of hair compared to Sassy. Was your baby as short as Sassy when he was little? So far I have not noticed Sassy shedding. And even though you cannot tell in the picture- her hair is not short like a Chi. It lays smooth, but the hair she has is pretty long- anywhere from one to two inches except on her head, and the top of her head is pretty short and smooth. Crystal |

with schatzie we got her at about 9 or 10 months from the shelter and her hair was shorter, but didn't look like it had been cut. At about a year old or so, the hair on her head got more length. The hair on her back and sides is long, but lays flat |
Did you call the breeder back yet and voice your concerns? |
She's so cute! She does look like a mix to me. I can't shake the impression, from the pics, that she is also much older than the breeder told you. Have you been to the vet with her yet? They can check her teeth and determine approximately how old she is by that. She just doesn't look like a 16 week old puppy to me, I don't know why, just a feeling:confused: Regardless, I'm sure that she will bring you many years of love and joy:love: |
Your Sassy looks to me like Yorkie Russel mix. |
I am glad that you posted this. It has taught me a lot on what I need to look for in a yorkie. Since I am new a buying one I will know what to look for and what to ask for purchasing. Best wishes, Cathi |
I e-mailed a picture of this dog(which I told the one that started the post), the vet said it was a cute dog, definitely has yorkie in it, but, definitely NOT a purebred yorkie... |

i have to agree that she isnt 100% yorkie but i have been wrong before..lol one person said something about s**tzu due to the body structure or something..im sorry there is no shih tzu there..they dont look anything like this dog this dog looks like some kind of rough coated terrier, rat or fox maybe. maybe something was crossed back down the line and the breeder doesnt know this or understand this and it just poped out on this litter. but if i bred a litter and 4 looked like yorkies and 1 didnt i think i would question my dogs or the neighbors..lol good luck..i love looking at updated pics and if you do get her dna tested i would love to hear the results |

here is my fletch... yes he has more hair... but look at the ears, feet, snout, eyes... your girl looks a LOT like him I think! I hope her hair grows quickly! If it means anything I think you got a full bred, just not quite as 'pretty' as you would have hoped for :) |
$200 really is a steal for a dog-- ANY dog, mixed or not, especially since at the age that she is at she should be well into her series of puppy vaccines and deworming. A friend of mine recently homed a litter of shepherd mix pups at $300 each, and didn't make a single cent after the amount of veterinary care and supplies involved in rearing a pup. The $200 price really should have been a flag that the dog you were considering wasn't an average yorkie, since the breeder was essentially letting her go at cost (assuming, at least, that she has been properly vaccinated and cared for up till the point that she went home-- and if she hadn't been, then there's a LOT more wrong with her breeder than just unimpressive bloodlines and possible mixes!) She's a cute dog, whatever she is. My pup is in obedience school with a dog that looks a whole lot like her, and he is a Yorkie / Schnauzer mix. |
Wow, now I don't feel so bad after spending $300 on my purebred shepherd..:) |
