| ![]() Does anyone have any advice on stopping puppies from barking? So far Pumpkin only does it when she's playing with our other puppy, Roo. We've been telling her no and holding her snout closed but it's hard because we have to interupt play time and it doesn't seem to be working at all- plus I'm not sure that she knows what we're saying no to (i'm worried she'll think she's not allowed to play!). Any advice would be appreciated! |

I know it's hard sometimes to anticipate the behavior, but when you yell or talk loudly your pup will think you're barking back at him... so it will only perpetuate the behavior... a doggie author was the one who suggested the shhhh thing, and Belle responds well to that... hope this helps!!! | ![]() I have to agree. Yelling only makes matters worse.

| ![]() Some one here at YT suggested using a soda can w/a couple of pennies in it. When they bark you tell them no and if they don't stop shake the can. It has worked wonders for Autumn. But if she is barking when she is playing w/your other dog that might just be her way of playing! Good luck.

| ![]() Deiter is not a barker. I have told him no bark since we got him. But Cozmo is a barker, we have only had him now for 1 1/2 weeks will be 2 in Jan, I have been using a spay bottle on him and tell him no bark. This is working so far. Good luck.

| ![]() barking is part of playing. i wouldn't stop mine from barking while playing. i tried thinking of me or my kids playing and not talking or laughing while we have fun. it is a different situation than if they were at the window just doing nothing but barking. that play barking time was when i taught mine to "speak" or say "hi" on command. just a thought. I like to hear mine bark every now and again.
