| gunk around the mouth... So when I first got Cisco, I rescued him from a shelter and he had a nasty mouth infection. We cleared that up with antibiotics at the vet and its gone, but now he still has the gunk from the infection and i cant get it out of his hair around his mouth! Its growing out in the hair but its creating mats. I have tried soaking it with luke warm water and gently brushing with a tooth brush, i've tried conditioner, everything! Anyone have any ideas?

| If you can't get it out then I would think you should shave it down too. If eye gunk can rot hair then i'm sure the same could happen with the gunk in your babies hair. Maybe try some olive oil to see if you can get it out. I would saturate that are with as much as I could, smooshing it in and then try to comb through it with a flea comb.

| I think I would just cut it down too. That hair probably isn't worth saving anyway since it sounds beyond repair. Bless you for giving this baby a safe and loving home! Hugs to you! |

| I say shave it down too. I dont' know if all dogs are this way, but my dog's hair around his mouth seems to grow 3x as fast as any of his other hair. I'msure the hair will grow back in no time!
