Why? Yes, they were first ratters. My first Yorkie did kill a mouse at a friend's house, so that is still in the genes. Later, they became a ladies dog, keeping silk weavers company. Somewhere along the way, they were crossed with Maltese to soften the coat -- the Yorkies, not the weavers. Dogs have been with humans for more years than we can imagine. Aren't we lucky to have abd love and be loved by our Yorkies?! |
I'm Back!! Um.. if you're angry because a dog caught/picked up a rabbit them you don't know alot about dogs and you haven't done much research of your chose of breed.. No offense but dogs will chase after things. It's curiousity! Anywho.... I'll go back to other post then reply to them.. |

Well lemme tell ya...Oscar wants to kill him a chicken EVERY day! He hates them with a passion and has gotten out when they were out of the coop...I chased him down before he got them but it was hard catching him. And it is normal yorkie behavior as far as I am concerned. |

i have been trying to think of an answer for this post; but I keep changing my mind with each new post:confused: I know for a fact that I am very thankful that breeders still breed yorkies, even if we do have the varmit problem pretty much under control. I love the yorkie breed. I think the best breeders are trying to improve the health and beauty of the breed, without losing the basic personality traits of the yorkie. A dog is a dog, even our gorgeous little yorkies, and that is another reason we love them so. Not everyone wants a little, long haired, spunky, demanding, loving, potential vermin killer; but for those of us that do, Thank God for good breeders trying to make sure this wonderful little dog continues to fill the hearts of all of us dedicated to this marvelous breed.:hearts6: |
Let's not forget that ALL dogs originally descended from the wolf. Technically, they are all mixed breeds. |

Sounds like the " pot stirrer " calling the kettle black. |
Kalina still thinks she's a ratter. I tried explaining to her that I want her to be clean and wear little dresses, but she'd rather dig and chase small mammals. :) |

Yikes! This is just getting outright snippy! Let's remember there are always PM's for snippy comments! Everyone has their own opinion and it is entitled. Raising dogs is like raising children, everyone has their own way, and no way is the right way. No matter how long these dogs have been around they are still animals, and lets face it, animal instinct is powerful, and animals no matter how trained or how domesticated can be unpredictable. I'm not picking here but a dog may never in it's lifetime see a "stuffed animal" toy and still go try and hunt down a bird, it's life, it's nature. Please, end it here and make peace. Sorry, i'm a peacemaker, it's just in my nature! (and I don't mean that in a smart way) |
