| collar or harness?? I would have thought a harness is better and more confortable for a yorkie to wear... but Milo disagrees. I've used a harness for some time, and he simply refused to walk in it. He would lay on the floor, and I could only persuade him to walk some steps before he would lay down again. I thought maybe he was too young. Then a few days ago I decided to try on a collar... and he seems another dog. He walks happily by my side for as long as I wish. Yesterday we walked for 45 minutes without any problem! (And then he had a wonderful nap? What do your yourkies prefer? |

| Ellie used to wear a collar. Then I found out how dangerous it is. I will never walk her on a collar again. She pulls on both anyway. It is good that he walks beside you and doesn't pull but what if he did pull even once. It is too much on a little neck.

| We have to use a harness because Zoey would strangle herself with a collar. She runs and jerks on the leash like a maniac.

| Chip wears a collar, he doesn't pull and is a good loose leash walker. He had a harness once and chewed himself out of it. |

| I know a harness is preferred because they pull, but my Toby is a very good walker, he doesn't pull. The advantage of the harness is if he is approached by a large dog off a leash you can pull on th leash and raise your yorkie so hes dangling in the air [to avoid him being attacked]. Toby doesn't care either way but if your pup doesn't want to walk on a harness then just stick to a collar. |

| harness or collar Well I'm glad my dog isin't the only one to jerk on the leash! My dogs wear a collar 24-7 for identification, plus they are microchipped. Whenever we go for walks, they wear harnesses.

| Keely wears a collar for identification but when we go on walks she wears a harness because she goes crazy and grabs a hold of the leash and whips it around like its a toy. She's a mad woman when you first take her out side on her leash. But she doesn't pull when we walk, she walks right beside me.

| Collars are dangerous for our little Yorkies fragile trachea...Here is some info I just googled: "PET NECK PROBLEMS DUE TO RESTRAINT Studies have shown that many pets that have been restrained on a leash have experienced neck problems. Many times the smaller breed dogs experience a condition called collapsed trachea. Trachea is another name for the windpipe which is the tube that connects the mouth, nose, and throat to the lungs. Some dogs with a collapsed trachea will experience an occasional cough that sounds similar to a honking noise. Pets with a collapsed trachea can experience gagging and difficulty with breathing It has been noted that a collapsed trachea is more likely to occur when a pet is breathing faster than normal, or when there is added pressure around the outside of the trachea, such as when a pet is being restrained. Pet owners can help with this condition by switching from a collar to a harness that does not place pressure on the pet’s trachea. A harness, instead of a collar, is recommended for restraining dogs susceptible to tracheal collapse so that pressure is not applied to the neck, forechest or airway area." Hope that info was helpfull. I never use a collar...just a harness

| We use the harness, because I'm afraid they'd get hurt with a collar.

| I'll try the harness again when he's older, but for the time being, we are both confortable with the collar. Luckily, Milo doesn't pull. |
