| Pad Training & Going Outside Has anyone been successful in training their yorkies for going both on pee pads and outside? If so, describe the process by which this was accomplished. My wife and I work full time and right now our 5 month old puppy is doing very well by going outside. However, when both our schedules become worse I may have to try to get him to go on a pad in the middle of the day and outside all other times. Is this possible??? Thanks. David |

| My dog Jack goes both on puppy pads and outside. When we are not home, he is in an exercise pen with a puppy pad in the corner. Since we did not take him outside at first, he was trained to go on the pad. Now that he's a little older, when we are home we take him outside and he takes a little while to do his business but eventually he does it. We use the potty training spray that helps a dog learn to pee on the pad and leave him just enough room in his pen for a bed, food and toys. We recently just got a Pug as well and we keep them in the same pen. She was very well trained when we got her and both are pretty good at going on the pad. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali has been pad trained from day one and will not go out even though my pom has always gone outside. When I got Pixie 9 months ago she was 13 months and not housebroken and it was dead of winter so I tried training her on pee pads. SHe never really got the concept that she should only go on those and would have many accidents. About 6 weeks ago she decided on her own to go outside and yaps for me to let her out. SHe is doing much better this way. So I have not been successful in training for both but a lot of people have,

| We have kind of the same situation, my bf and I both work full time across town from our home, and neither one of us can make it home for lunch and be back to work in an hour. When she first came home we were placing her on the pad every time she started to sniff around and praised her redicliously and gave her treats when she went pee or poop on the pad. That went on for a month or so with a few accidents here and there but never scolding her for them. I am the first to get home in the afternoon, so as soon as I do we go outside in the backyard (I bring treats with me) and we play and wait for a while until she goes, then of course reward. Consistancy is the key, our dog has free reign of the place while we are gone and there are no accidents because she has the pad alternitave in the bathroom. I find that while we are gone during the day that she sleeps almost all day and has a full bladder when I get home so that part of the routine makes it so easy to reward her for going outside. All it took for me was the 5-15 min after work before I sit down to relax to go out with my pup and play until she has to go pee and now whenever we go outside for the rest of the evening she knows to use the bathroom out there. |

| Deiter goes outside, But I still have the wee wee pad down just in case, because he doesn't bark at the door to go out. If my BF is here and I am not, he doesn't know when Deiter needs to go out. But 99% of the time Deiter potty's outsied
