| First Bath i just gave my 7 week yorkie his first bath. he hated it...squealed and cried the whole time. i did blow dry him because he was shivering and i brushed him also. is there anything i can do to make a bath more pleasing? i hate to do that to him.

| Try warming your towel in the microwave just a little that will help with the shivers. Your baby will hopefully learn to love baths like mine do they jump right on in they love baths.

| It took mine a little while to get use to them, but now they behave in the bath. They still don't lke them, but they tolerate them.

| I always used the bath tub so they couldn't fall. Talk soothingly. The first few times are usually the most difficult. There isn't a lot you can do to make it better. Just try not to spray water in the faces and ears that will turn them off to baths forever. He'll get better, or he should get used to it and not put up such a fuss. I have never had one carry on that way, but they're all different. Don't feel too bad. Kacee peed on me - I think it was the second time - I blew her dry. Now she loves the blow drier. Just be careful and not have the drier too close or too hot. He should be ok as time goes by, but I doubt if getting a bath will ever be his favorite thing. However, he'll love how he feels afterward and sleep like a baby after he's through running like a maniac.

| I am so jealous that some of your furbabies love baths!! Bella hates it. I'm hoping she will decide it can be fun and relax! I agree with you, it is so hard to put them through it when you know how upset they are!

| I use the kitchen sink because I have a sprayer and I am more relaxed. I get tired and grumpy bending over the bathtub. I have a stainless steel sink that I can disinfect before and after. Tearless shampoo and cotton balls with just a smidge of vaseoline on them work great for keeping water out of ears. Make sure the water temp is a comfortable level. Lexi isn't too crazy about any grooming yet, but Chloe does well. I usually croon to her, talk a bunch of nonsense, tell her what a good girl she is, talk about relaxing in a "hot tub." I have hubby throw a towel in the dryer to spin while I'm bathing them, then I hand them off to him to be snuggled in a warm towel for a bit of hugs and kisses before blow drying. When Chloe was little it was winter, so keeping her from getting chilled was important. The little maniacs are running around the living room chasing each other right now. Maybe a good warm bath while be in order later! |

| My Bella girl doesnt mind the bath at all if the water temp is warm. Their average body temp is higher than ours so she seems to tolerate pretty warm water. I always test her feet..if she doesnt pull away.. then i know it is ok. When I rinse if the water is too cool, she starts to shiver right away and tries to get out. As long as she is warm she is happy. I love the idea of the warm towel. Thanks everyone for that tip! |

| Can you explain this a little more? Do you place a cotton ball in each ear before bathing? How do they stay in? I avoid the ears at all cost while bathing because I'm so terrified of ear infections. Thanks!

YT Addict | One thing my grandmother told me, is to try to turn the heater on in the bathroom or run some warm water in the shower so the room is nice and warm. That way your little one won't feel so cold when he is being washed and such. Luckily, I never had a problem with Teddy. He just lets me do anything to him. He's such a ham!
