Its killing me-- how do you pronounce Biewer? I was born in Germany so I know how to say it in German, but I can't wrap my mind around the American pronunciation...:animal36 |
I was told it was pronounced Beaver. |
In German you pronounce a w with a v sound, so that makes sense, but the ie gets me mixed up. |
i'll try to type it out, lol. It's sort of like buew-er. with the letter "U" being pronounced as the letter. |
AHA!!! Yes, thank you! Sorry for the silly question, but its been bugging me for days!!!! |
The three breeders I know call them...BEE-VAR...I have no clue what is correct. |
Hello from COLORADO!!! I don't know...I've always pronouced it b-you-er, but I guess it's supposed to be said Bee-vair. http://www.answers.com/biewer |

I used to say bewer but I think you say it Bevaire. |
I was told bee va, but we have Americanized it to Bee ver / Bee Var. I usually tell people they are Beevers and of course they think of the tree chewing animals. |
A gal who lives down from me who shows these German Yorkies says "Beaver". |
LOL-- yes in German it is Bee va, although depending on where you are there could be an emphasis on the r so Bee var isn't that far off. |
Hi Back from Colorado! LOL Where are you?? I am just south of Boulder. |
It kills me because during the time when Biewers where conceived, my Omi and I went to buy a Yorkie from a breeder in Wiesbaden. Does anyone know where in Germany the Biewers were located? |

Yup, I was in Germany that summer, but in Eschersheim (outside of Frankfurt). Freaky. |

I know! Its a small world huh? I even worked at the Tony's down there--hehe. DO you have a Biewer? I would love to see one in living color. I haven't completely decided which one I want to save up for...LOL |
If you're ever down in S. Calif, let me know and I can introduce you to some of Team Furry, the Biewers. |

OMG - Beaver!!! I NEVER would of guess that in a million years! |
lol, funny you should ask this, I called a German breeder and asked about a brewer (like Brewery) and she had no clue when I described it she was like oh BEAVER guess I will try to get one while I am here |

Here is Puerto Rico at my local grocery store they sell all medications from behind the courtesy desk. so instead of walking up to the shelf and picking up something myself i actually have to ask. I have to sit and think....hmmm if i was a Puerto Rican how would i pronounce it. Sometimes i cant get the American pronunciation out of my mouth no matter what I am thinking. so Bayer aspirin because becomes buyer because of the way they pronounce their A's Benedryl becomes binidreel. I get the funniest looks, and it gets so frustrating so i know how u feel lol. |
Funny you should say that, we were just in Sun Valley and Anaheim last month-- we went to Disneyland for my daughter's 5th birthday. Where in Ca. are you? |
I know a couple of people in CO that have a Biewer. Maybe they will see this post and invite you over for a visit and you can meet one in person!! There is going to be a Biewer Specialty Show in Orlando, FL next weekend, several Biewers are going to be there. Or in March next year there is a show that some might be attending, I think it is Loveland, CO. |
I think it's BEE-VAIR....I looked it up awhile ago for the same reason, I didn't want to pronounce it incorrectly. |
