| Bella could have died After reply to a post someone had put up regarding larger breed dogs and yorkies I have to say that I will take back everything I said after what happened today. And it was of no fault of my bigger dog, I lay all the blame on me for doing what ended up causing the accident. It was a beautiful day so I decided to bring Bella out back with our 2 labs to run around a little. She is small enough to get under the fence and out so I had her on a 10ft tie out with a harness and the other end clipped to my belt loop. They were all playing nicely and I noticed Willow (my 65ish lb lab) had a dog toy outside that shouldn't have been, so I called her over. I took the toy from her and held it up away from her. Well, she decided to jump up and try to take it back and when she came back down both front paws came right down on top of poor little Bella. She let out the most horrifying scream and cries I could ever imagine and layed curled up in a ball. I was so terrified to move her I just knelt there with my hands around her waiting to see if she would move on her own and asked my son to get my husband. He came out and told me to pick her up and get her in the house, saying I can't leave her there anyway. So I scooped her up as best I could without actually moving her and at that point noticed feces and blood coming out her rear end. I can't even explain how scared I was for her at this point. I brought her in rinsed off her bottom while Bob called the vet she was wiggling around so I set her on the floor and I thought she was walking odd. Vet said we could bring her right in so I wrapped her up in her blanket and off I went with my 10yr old son holding her in the car. Oh yea, I gave her some nutrical before we left.. not sure why or if it was needed but I was worried she would get hypo on me. She shook like a leaf all the way there, in the waiting room and then the took her back for x-rays. An eternity later they brought her back to me and she just about climbed up my chest to get to me. The tech said it was a great sign that she was standing on her hind legs like that. Vet came in with the x-rays and by some miracle proceeded to show me all the tiny toothpick like bones in Bella's body and how not one of them had a fracture, and that there was no sign of internal bleeding. She said YOU GOT REALLY LUCKY! She also told me that she took a poo in the back and it was loose but no sign of blood in it at all. I went from someone who was in tears thinking the worst to someone who is thanking god that Bella had some sort of guardian angel or something watching over here for her to come out of something that could have killed her with not even a scratch. They did say that this was still a very tramatic thing to happen to her and to keep a close eye on her for the next 24-48 hours and call if anything seems wrong (which of course I realize). I was very luck and learned a valuable lesson today at my poor little babies expense. I'm sorry I was so long winded, but I tend to get that way sometimes. Thanks for reading if you got that far

| OH poor Bella and poor you! You must have been so frightened for her! I am so pleased you thought of the nutrical, because it would help if she had gone into shock. I am so happy for you and her, that the Vet pronounced her unharmed. Lauren

| Wow! I am so glad she is ok.Thank God. I hope and pray she continues to do well. We to have two big dogs lab and golden retriever. They get to be with Winstin but not all the time. They are not allowed to jump or run with him around. Well, at least as much as I can prevent it. They are older and I think it helps. Thank you for sharing.

YT 500 Club Member | Bella has a guardian angel! She is so lucky! And I think that this is a good reminder for us with regard to our little ones and bigger, active dogs. They don't mean to hurt anyone, but accidents can happen. Thank you for your story, and I am thankful that you had a good outcome.
