So far, maybe this isn't what I was looking for. :(
First off, he doesn't just have a puppy cut, his hair is flat out SHORT.
He's bigger than I thought he'd be. I need to weigh him soon. He just seems bigger than what she said (which was 6 lbs).
He has very long legs for a Yorkie. It makes him look a bit gangly, and I don't find that to be flattering.
I keep saying I have to wonder if he's a mix, but my significant other is convinced he's purebred. If he's purebred, he's one hell of a tall Yorkie, and he's going to be somewhat big I'd bet.
His personality is a little different than I wanted, too. He spends most of his time running away from us and never staying still. Maybe our Yorkie we have had for a while is a rarity, but he isn't a complete ball of energy like that, and even when he is he doesn't try to completely avoid us.
She said he was "on the road" to being housebroken, but crapped in the house twice even though we took him out. That's frustrating.
Our cats already dislike him because of his energy and general nature, and I really hate to see that. I feel that all members of this household, animal and human, need to get along perfectly. It's always been great with us 2, the cats and our furbaby...everybody has gotten along really well. Yeah, it's only one day, but I can foresee problems on the horizon between the cats and this one, and if it comes to choosing I'd have to keep the kitties because they were here first.
I suppose I just have to be honest about the situation, and I am just a little letdown. I tried fooling myself for a while into thinking I liked how he looked and his personality was great for this house, but reality sinks in fast for me. :( | I think you need to give this baby some time to get used to you. Sounds as if he has been bounced about a lot.
And, with all due respect, negative remarks about how the poor baby looks seem shallow. Didn't you get a picture of him before making a commitment? Since that seems to be important to you now.
As everyone else has said, give him time ... hair grows ....
I just feel so sad for this Yorkie, being judged solely on his looks. Please give him lots of love and I am sure he will reciprocate.
We all know house training takes time ... please give him a chance ... and post pictures, perhaps someone else on here would like to reach out to him.
I do not wish to step on anyone's toes here, just want to see this baby getting the love he deserves .... |
