| neighbor dog We have a wooden picket fence around our back yard and a 6 month old golden retriever who lives next door. Ollie our yorkie is also 6 months old. The problem started with Sadie (golden retriever) digging holes at our fence large enough for Ollie to go under to visit with her..... so we stapled chicken wire along the fence so now Sadie still digs a nice hole with my Ollie digging from the other side then Sadie sticks her giant head under the chicken wire and lifts it up for Ollie to go under...... (this happens with in seconds!!) so i lined that side of the fence/chicken wire with bricks.......but they still work togather so Ollie can get through it....so now every single time Ollie (10 lbs.) goes outside i must go with him and stand at the fence and this is quite often because Ollie loves to be outside! (6:30 a.m. i am in my pj's outside for all to see-he he) I would really prefer to watch him from the window! Sadie is a sweet dog but doesnt know how much larger she is and i am so afraid she will accidentally hurt my baby. I have talked to the neighbors and they laugh about it and say stuff like -oh yes we need to do our part but never do. "HE" is our city manager! I have posted before (and told my neighbors) the story of our chihuahua being attacked by a larger dog and having a punctured spleen and collapsed lung and my fears of larger dogs with smaller ones- although Sadie is not the least bit aggressive - they just want to play!!! Oh and the mud and dirt and baths......any suggestions? |

| Is Sadie usually kept outside all day? Maybe you can try letting Ollie out a little earlier or later then when Sadie is out. This doesn't sound very attactive but you can put large rocks along the fence line, and see if this deters Ollie or not. |

| We had a really bad problem with this and had to dig up along the fence line, dump in bags of cement and wet them down so they'd harden. This finally did the trick.
