Donating YT 11K Club Member | Very weird-question London's heat went away but today i just got home and i notice her nipples are swollen. When she was in heat it was just her nipples that stuck out but now they are swollen even around the nipple. The lowest 2 are the biggest, they even look kinda colored, what does this mean? I am going to schedule her a vet appt. anyway but just wondering....

| It seems like a lot of dogs get swollen around there after there first heat. Could also be a false pregnancy.

| Yeah, it's pretty normal. When my boss's little 3 1/2 lbs yorkie went in heat for the first time she looked like she had a little belly and had swollen breasts. They eventually went away. The nipples and vulva don't ever completely return to pre-heat size though.

| When my Sadie had a false pregnancy she looked pregnant and even had milk..but I KNEW she wasnt..my vet suggested spaying her so it didnt happen again as it is pretty common to keep happening if it has happened once.. Dawn |

| Here's some info about false pregnancies http://www.petplace.com/dogs/pseudoc...ncy/page1.aspx There can be really mild false pregnancies where the breasts just swell some, and the belly can get a little firm and larger. Some dogs will show some nesting behavior. Some can have really serious false pregnancies and will actually look pregnant and act like they are showing signs of being in labor. Some even produce milk. If London's acting normal other than the swelling in the breasts, I wouldn't worry.

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | Daisy ishumping a lot too. I aksed about this because this is new. He told me it could be dominence from her body changing or it could also be an ovarian cyst that is producing hormones and making them hump but with out doing expensive testing they couldn't tell so he said to just watch her for any signs but it was normal
