| Need help with collar and tag I need some advise about a collar and tag for Buddy. Since the day we got Buddy he has hated wearing a collar. The first tag that I put on him he chewed it and destroyed it. (same with the second one) Putting a collar and tag on Buddy has never seemed necessary where we live (we have lots of acreage). However, lately I have paniced when Buddy has ventured out further than normal. Normally, we runs out to potty then straight back in the house but lately he has been prowling around which makes me nervous. I think I need to keep a collar and tag on him. Does everyone keep the collar and tag on all the time? Or do you only put it on when your furbaby goes out? Is there a tag that cannot be chewed? Is there a collar that is very comfy? NOTE: when we go out for walks he wears a harness with his leash. Looking forward to hearing from you guys!!! Thanking my YT friends in advance!!!!!

| Humm maybe the collar is to big for him, I don't think he should be able to reach it with his mouth also try a very light weight collar and tag, so sorry I couldn't help you more |

| Actually, I've procrastinated and haven't gotten Coby a good tag yet. But with our other dog, we ordered the engraved slide on style. With the little dogs, a dangling tag just seems so huge. So I like the ones that slide directly onto the collar better. They could also slide onto a harness as well.

| I keep his collar on all the time. You could order one of those collars that has the name and number embroidered on it so you don't have to have a tag.

| I have seen others on the forum that have a collar with all of the info on the collar itself. Also, there is a tag that lays flat and is put on the collar almost like a charm added to it so they can not get to it. They sell them on petsmart. Hope that helps you a little.

| Make sure he is micro-chipped. A collar is good with a tag or metal plate with name and phone # for honest people to use, but it can just as easily be taken off and discarded, but not the chip. If he can chew the collar, then it's too loose on him. You can order those nylon collars with a flat metal plate with his name and phone #. It may be better than a dangling tag. |

| As Suzy is an inside dog, she rarely leaves my sight. I have the luxury for being home with her nearly all the time (except supermarket trips) so there's no need for a permanant collar/tag setup. I did buy one for her for when we go for walks so I can attach it to her harness. I'm in Australia and got it from a seller on eBay. http://stores.ebay.com.au/Online-Sublime They have all sorts of sizes for the tags, I got an xs for Suzy and it's not too big for her but can fit all the info I need on the engraving. As other people have said, maybe his collar is too big and tags can be discarded but microchips can't. |

| I think either the embroidered or the flap slip on are the best way to go.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi Rhonda! I like microchipping as well as collaring - my guys have both. Wylie wears his collar 24/7 - and Marcel is getting to the age where he can wear his 24/7 (we were taking it off whenever he was home alone, previously). I LOVE Bommerang Tags - they're just super quality. And, the ones called "collar tags" do not dangle, therefore Buddy wouldn't be able to get at it. Here is their site: http://www.boomerangtags.com/store/ For collars, the thing to remember is DON'T follow the usual big-dog-fitting-rule of "be able to put 2 fingers btwn the collar and neck" - that's a good rule for big dogs, but not for yorkies. Two fingers worth of space is dangerous for our little guys. You want JUST barely a full finger worth of space - that way they can't get at it and it is less likely to "snag" other things. Good luck!
