| Are x-rays safe? I really did not want my Chloe to get pregnant at all and I was waiting for her first heat cycle to get her spayed but..... I went on vacation and left her with my house sitter and it happened at least I think so. My house sitter said Tyler got away from her and next thing she knows he was in Chloe's room they were not attached but Chloe's hind legs were soaked Chloe only weighs 5lbs so I was a little upset at first. 2 weeks later her belly seemed to get bigger and like swollen. She would be due sometime the week of Oct 1 (60 days) The belly has not gotten much bigger but still a little swollen around the breast. So I called the vet to schedule an ultra sound and he said to wait till next week. He also said they don't do xrays because they are dangerous. If she did not behave for the ultra sound they would have to put her under (which I do not want at all) So I called my sister's vet and they said they would do the xray and it was not a problem they also said it is not dangerous and she doesnt have to be sedated. Now I am worried about this whole thing and I do not know who to believe.

| I don't think it is dangerous...pregnant dogs get x-rays all the time

| A few films shouldn't be bad, if you were getting a barrage or series of x-rays thats when it can get dangerous. If possible get the ultra-sound first, and then if the vet says x-ray go ahead and get them done.. |
