Donating YT 30K Club Member | Thanks I tossed all but one toy yesterday that wasn't made in China. My girls are so lost without their toys. I went to petsmart and found ONE not made in China.

| Is Your Dog Toy Made In China? Better Toss It. by Matt Hartley on August 15, 2007 at 3:25 pm · Comments Categorized by Talk / Related Information I used to believe that something made in China merely meant this was its place of origin only. These days however, this is quickly changing.

Fisher-Price recall
Counterfeit Drugs
China takes over world’s antibiotics, enzymes markets
Now to be clear, this is a concern over lack of government standards in that region, not some biased nonsense of prejudice against the Chinese people. The simple fact is that they suffer the same lack of proper checks and balances as many economically growing countries. Because they are becoming a super-power at an alarming rate however, their distribution rate is something to be concerned with when we see an ongoing problem with quality control continuing to go unchecked. Now, there is the question of pet toys from the region. As you remember from the piece on kids toys, with concerns over many of them containing lead or worse, has anyone ever bothered to look where their pet toys are imported from? China, nearly always. Now for the big question - who is doing the quality assurance on these toys to make sure that they are not putting our pets health at risk? So where is the problem, Matt? It’s not like animals put these toys in their mouths or suckle on them…oh wait; they do and do so rather often. Perhaps this explains why my own dog has become ill and vomiting off and on since purchasing a couple of new stuffed toys from PetSmart? Is this food for thought or instead, should we insist on buying pet toys from within our own borders so if foul play is afoot, we can allow the proper authorities to stop to any harmful elements that may have been placed into the toys based on sloppy quality control. I believe wholeheartedly that there are oodles of US companies that have the same problem as the ones in China. But at least when something like this happens here, it’s easier to boycott the offending group or better yet, bring in the authorities to hand the problem.

| Guess I'll have to toss 'em all! The first thing mine do is chew off the tag, so I don't know where they were made! Anyone know where to get toys NOT made in China??

| Mine don't like the rubber or vinyl toys, so I just have to look at their stuffed toys.

| Is all this just recently-made toys? Lacy has a lot of stuffed toys but I haven't bought any new ones in like 6 months...most of her toys were bought way before then.
