Urgent question about shipping?? I have a puppy on hold for me until tomorrow morning & I need to know how difficult it would be to have this puppy shipped to me (BC, Canada) from the state of Georgia? The pup will have all vet papers & work done needed, but I would like to get her here without me having to go over the border if I can. I don't have a passport & it would take min of 3 weeks to get one with all the delays they tell me... and with all the new reg's in place I can't get across without one now. Please... if you've recently shipped across can you tell me what I would need to do, what airline is best to use etc. Thanks to anyone who can respond... hugely appreciated!!!

That is a long way to ship a puppy. As a breeder, I wouldn't ship to Canada. Can't you find a breeder closer? i know there are several on here from Michigan.

This is an older pup, and the breeder doesn't feel there is a problem at all. Yes, I'm sure I could find one closer... but she has offered this AKC, CKC reg. pup to me for a super fantastic price. Family medical problems have forced her to sell quickly.

I shipped an adult male stud dog to Canada a couple years ago. There is different health certificate. They have to stop in Chicago (I believe) to be checked over there supposedly by a vet. And (if you did not know(, you will be charged some sort of Tarriff in Canada before you can take the dog home. It has been a couple years ago and I don't know if things are different, but definetly was post 9-11. There are a few people who are from Canada on here, maybe they know more. I think the Tarriff is pretty steep too. Call your local airport or an airline and they may be able to tell you more. Good luck, and we have to have pictures here you know!

| I'd call the airline the breeder is planning on using and find out the answers to your questions.

Red Flag! When something seems too good to be true, it is, and for any breeder to ship a dog that far is telling me something is wrong here. I'm sure she could have found someone in her own city who would buy the Yorkie. If I were you, I would buy one closer to you and one that you can visit the home where the pup lives, and see the parents. Good luck with this.

Unfortunately the lady knows nothing about shipping into Canada iether, and is leaving it up to me to get it all sorted out. She just wants to know when & where to take her. I wouldn't even have the first clue on getting a dog over the border, that's why I am asking for everyone's help. I have the funds to buy her, and for shipping her I can use my visa. But I don't even know where to begin...

No... no, this isn't a scam. She's a very nice lady with 2 young kids, very sick hubby & even has a beautiful website. She had more than just the one pup, but I chose this particular one. The others have all been sold & rehomed now, so she's just waiting on me for this little one. She needs the money asap to pay hospital bills & for daycare when she's at the hospital with her DH. It's a very sad story actually... but she can't care for the puppies right now & needed to rehome them asap. She's keeping all her adult breeders... she just simply can't care for the younger ones at this time.

Well.... I can offer her site after I confirm wether or not I'm geting the pup. So just in case, I would rather not say just yet I found out two airlines that might do it, and called Continental since they were the only ones open. I confirmed all we would require is a health certificate & a rabies vaccine, then for me to travel a little over 4 hours to pick her up. There is a terrif, but it's at most $50 the gentleman said. So it looks like it might be a go if she hasn't found a closer buyer yet. Wish me luck

We bought a pomeranian in the States and the only things required were the health certificate, rabbies certificate and GST.

When a dog is shipped it dont mean they will get there that day. I know with Roxy she was sup to be send via Delta but the first date of shipment was denied because if it is over 85 on the runway they will not ship the dog (even if the dog is on the runway for 1 min). I know with Delta the dogs have to go with cargo from May to Sept so they will be in the AC on top. Then she was sup to come on a Tuesday everything was all said and done she was at the airport and her flight was cancelled. I was crushed that morning when I got the phone call. I was so upset thinking I was getting had. The breeders husband drove her down to me a 12 hour drive the next day.

What are you paying to ship her for the airline price??? Was it the 50.00 you were taking about in the earlier post or how much it would cost for you to travel?
