| She left him outside in the rain alone... My bf's mom left our yorkie out on the patio..in the rain..by himself..unsupervised this evening. My bf and I went out for dinner and left our dog in his bedroom for about 30 minutes. When we came back, we found him half soaked in the cold on the patio. I was super pi$$ed..but tried to hide it b/c it is my future MIL...my bf, on the other hand, wound up getting in an argument w/her about it. She said that b/c Tobi was barking and irritating my bf's sister while she was "studying", she thought putting him outside unattended would be fine. After months and months of trying to explain to her that a yorkshire terrier is not the type of dog you can just leave outside alone in the cold..she goes and does exactly what we asked her not to! It's not as though we asked her to look after Tobi b/c he's used to being alone in the house for more than an hour! I'm so worried about my Tobi b/c he spends a few days a week at my bf's house..and, even though I know my bf would NEVER do that to Tobi...my future MIL might..........GRRRRR......... I feel like banning her from playing w/him ever again.

Donating YT 11K Club Member | I feel you, it sucks! Sometimes ppl just don't care for them the way we do. My bf's parents have given Teddy bones because they think "hey he's a dog, they eat bones" even tho we have told them yorkies are small dogs that can't digest bones well, they are old fashioned and in their country that is what they feed dogs. I get so mad

| I am so sorry this happened to you. But you should face up to the fact that this women is not going to do as you've asked. Remember that if you plan on having children with her son - if she ignores you about your dog - she will think she can do whatever she wants with her grandchildren. I once boarded my Bichon, who was 14 yrs old - the stupid owner of the boarding place left my aging girl in the rain for more than an hr & told me dogs liked to be in the rain - while some dogs do, not an older dog!!

| Thanks for the heads up. My bf and I have talked about having children in the future..and he definately agrees that if this behaviour carries over into taking care of our children then she will have SUPERVISED VISITS. It sounds pretty harsh...but...we treat our yorkie as though he were our son, and if she just completely disregards our wishes..then who's to say she won't do the same w/our real babies!
