Nope, yesterday I received an itchmo alert; I had signed up for these warnings when the whole dog food recall thing started. They are a VERY reliable source of info. Here is a quote:
"As of this morning, PetSmart has pulled various Smokehouse Brand dog treats off of their shelves. There have been reports of pets becoming ill after eating the treats, and as a precaution, PetSmart has removed the products. There has been no formal recall as of yet. Here is what the PetSmart corporate office released to the PetSmart stores:
“Today the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) issued a media alert warning some treat products from China may be a potential threat to pets due to ’several complaints from pet owners and veterinarians of illness in dogs.’ No deaths have been reported at this time. The symptoms of pets reported sick were vomiting, lethargy and anorexia. To date, testing by the FDA and PetSmart Techinical Services has ruled out melamine contamination that might be making pets sick."

I am checking every single product before I buy it, whether it be food, treats or toys, that they are NOT made in china. Actually, like I posted above, I firmly believe that for right now, Honey Nut Cheerios are the safest treats.

I highly recommend signing up for their email alerts. If there is the slightest doubt about a product, if any symptoms whatsoever are reported regarding a pet product, itchmo is on top of it.

Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, we should all check our Yorkies' toys to see if they were made in China. I mean, if they can export skin-kid toys containing something as poisonous as lead, who knows what is put into toys made for a dog, a creature the manufacturers seem to have very little, if any regard for.

Actually, I just saw this new information this morning! And I think it was in another thread also. While I don't think there are any really well-documented cases yet, I think EVERYONE is wisely reacting to be on the safe side these days.

Coby and I are going to the petstore this afternoon. We'll be reading the labels carefully.......

I just wanted to add - I had seen the thread on iloveloui'es Bella, but was not aware this was THE Bella whose illness was caused by the Smoke House Chicken Tenders. Are you saying they are the one and the same Yorkie?

Yes I think they are. I found this same post all over the net. The link I had found before stated they couldn't really track it down... http://www.petfoodexpress.com/petfoo...&Section=About And then I had just found Petsmart's just-to-be-safe reaction to it just before you had posted your alert confirmation.

I think it was just coincidence in the name that got our attention. The Bella above was sick before ilovelouie's Bella. I reread ilovelouie's and she had just recently gotten sick. Too many Bella's I think.

Awww I am so sorry it happened to Bella.. When I get my yorkie I want to homecook her food.. My mom won't let me cook for our dog now though.. She said he's fine with what he is eating now.. I don't agree though.. I think he shouldn't be eating Pedigree.

I don't know if this is the same Bella and I just posted it as it was sent to me.. This is just so upsetting... When I called Petdirect as to the food when this all happened they just phoof phoofed it off and looked what happened.. I had very expensive food I had to dump as I was too afraid to feed any of it.. If this is a true store it's very sad.. I know that China has a lot to give answers too ... I still feel there are foods out there unsafe.. I don't trust any of them...!!! Hey they are going to take BST off the market as it's a marketing inhibitor as to sales of cows milk.. Yeah...

I went to Gorden foods and they had this huge bear with animal cookies in it... They are low fat so I bought them and the dogs love them... They just get a couple in the evening with their milk before bed...They sure look forward to that little treat...
