| Worry Worry Worry!!! It seems like I'm at the vet every two weeks now......and it's not like when I go there's nothing wrong......it's always some little thing....... Two weeks ago Saturday, Brandi kept yelping and biting me (she seemed in pain) so off we went to the vet. He xrayed her and he found her bowel & colon were packed.......(sorry if I'm a bit graphic) so he cleaned her out.......and sent me home with a laxitive.....that night she vomited and wouldn't eat or drink......she continued to vomit......and Sunday morning the same thing.....so back to the vet. Well she was dehydrated, and her sugar was quite low.......so he gave her fluids did a blood chemistry and wbc & cbc........and sent me home with nutra-cal......and she started feeling better........and seemed to come back to normal........ I called a week ago Friday for her blood results......and the vet got on the phone.......he said "I don't want you to worry......I don't believe it's anything......I think she had a virus......but I want to redo the blood....." well as he talked about the numbers I was like "are you thinking liver shunt" he said yes.......but I just think she has a virus......lets retest her next week.......well TODAY was next week........and I took her in and I will have the results tomorrow Needless to say......I am a basket case now.......I'm trying to think positive.....but I'm worried........Brandi's mom & dad are "pet store" dogs.....they were purchased before any of us knew much about yorkies.....or puppy mills......there are 3 dogs from their first litter.........and two from the litter Brandi came from........and so far none of them have shown signs of liver shunt.....or any other problems thank god..... Thanks for letting me vent......just say your prayers for Brandi please........I know how strong the YT Power of Prayer is........ |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh, geesh, I can hear all that worry - and I'd feel the same way. It can be so darn scary w/ these little guys. I wish all the BEST health in the world for your precious baby!

| Gosh...I will be praying for you precious little Brandi. It's hard not to worry when it comes to these little ones! I hope and pray you will get good news! I'd say it's a good sign that none of her littermates have LS. Sending best wishes and big hugs! I'll be watching for updates!

| That's wonderful news!! I know how worrisome these little tykes can be. At the beginning of the year, it seemed like it was one thing after another with Sadie too. UTI's, viruses, heart murmur etc., but she's been fit and healthy now for months. I hope Brandi starts feeling better soon!!

| I'm glad she is healthy. I always worry about Conner, but fortunately, he has been healthy. When he sleeps too much, I always want to take him to the vet, but then he perks up from his nap and plays.

| Brandi was sleeping a lot today too and I had that same thought.......maybe something is wrong.......but nothing is wrong I need to keep telling myself that.........my vet is awesome.......we discussed her diet today........he said to keep doing whatever it is I'm doing she's HEALTHY.......I told him about this thing she does with rubbing up against everything.......he doesn't want to mess around with her diet right now......he said maybe it's seasonal allergies......and once the weather changes if I still feel there's a problem........we'll look into it......so for right now I'm just going to count my blessings that she's ok.......and stop obsessiong so much thinking something is wrong...... |
