I now understand about RUDE people and size comments

Zippy is 13 lbs and is a purebreed Yorkie. Chip is 14 lbs of Yorhuahua lover! When people make a comment about his size I tell them that Yorkies were originally this size until they breed them to be small, so genetically they still carry the "big gene" (My version of made up scientific stuff to back up my statement, but sounds very logical).

I had someone where I work make a rude comment when I told her mine was about 11 lbs. Her's is 6 lbs. It really upset me. Once, I also got the " are you sure he isn't a silky?". Breeds are not determined by size alone.

I tool aurora to get her nails trimmed at petsmart and they asked me if I was sure that she was a yorkie, not a silkie. I was like nope she is a yorkie....she looked and said really? Like she didn't believe me.

My g-ma wasn't rude about it but she was shocked when she saw the difference in the clothes sizes between my yorkie and my mom's.

People are always asking me if Remy is a silky terrier ( they feel she is quite large for a yorkie).....SHE'S 5LBS. AND 9 INCHES TALL FOR GODS SAKES!!!....Okay the size comments bug me too.

I just serioulsy learned to ignore people. i leave them standing with their words hanging from their mouth. i used to get into with people but im tired of ignorant humans. I give the puertorican eyebrow lift and most people walk away befoe they speak another word.



oh and before i forget.are we not allowed to spell out s**tzus?, ive noticed this recently and it not like we are saying the poopy word on purpose, its how the breeds name is spelled. either way i guess ill bleep is as well . dont wanna get in trouble and grounded .

It's not letting you spell it out because you're misspelling it. The word is Shih-Tzu and is pronounced "Sheats-zoo"

I hear alot of this from YT members too. The thing is that, If you go back to the original weight of a yorkie they were up around 12 lbs. So I would
tell them just that! He is a normal size Yorkie...If these people that make comments on Yorkies size did their research and read about the breed they wouldn't be making such rude remarks.

Actually, I would have to look it up again, but I think they were WAY bigger than that.....I'm thinking like 22 pounds

Argh! I get so completely irritated when I hear people questioning the "authenticity" of a Yorkie when they are big boys/girls. To me, ANY Yorkie, whether big/small, stand-up/floppy ears, silky/cotton coat, golden/chocolate/silver, long nose/short nose- they are all just beyond wonderful.
