Default BETTY Is a BULLY!!!!

There...I said it. SHe is sooo rough with Juju! Betty weighs over 10 lbs. at 11 months and Juju is about 3 1/2 lbs. at almost 6 months. Poor Juju loves her to death and always wants to play with her and Betty is rotten...but not always! She treats Juju like a little ragdoll sometimes (like as we speak). I am a worrywart and I'm scared Juju will get brain damage or something from Betty slamming her! I say "NO" and try to intervene, etc. but it only works for that moment (maybe). I don't want to have to pick Juju up and remove her all the time because Betty McRotten will get jealous and probably pack her back worse. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions?? Thanks.

I'm anxious to see some answers too, as Penny is the biggest little bully I've ever seen.

Lucy was AWFUL about doing stuff like that when I got Rebel. (She's a 10 pounder too and Rebel weighs right at 5 lbs at 1 yr)

Lucy used to chase him under my wrought iron coffee table and he'd bump his head EVERY time.

I finally started telling Lucy "no" when she did it and putting her in the crate for a few minutes. She absolute hated that and now she doesn't do it anymore.

Also, Rebel gives her FITS now

Thanks...I'll have to try that...give her a timeout. I just hope she doesn't take it out on Juju afterwards.

Wait until JuJu gets a little older. One of my boys, Maverick, is 13 pounds, and the other, BamBam, is 4.5 pounds, they are both around three. Maverick plays really rough, but BamBam learned how to stay out of the way.

Then when Maverick is just laying around BamBam will sneak up and grab the hair on Maverick's face and pull it. When BamBam thinks Maverick is being bad he'll growl and bite him and jump on him. He can't fight fair so he fights sneaky. I've had to make BamBam leave Maverick alone before, he won't let go of the hair on his face and Maverick just whines.

Hopefully you little one will learn to stick up for him/herself.

LOL!! Oh, she does that already! She'll attack Betty and then RUN behind the couch or under the bed where Betty can't fit! Haha! She comes out...attacks...and then hides again! I think it's cute when they play fight...but I worry about the times when Betty is acting extra rough.

i have posted before that i think maggie is a bully. I don't think that is the word I used...I think I used "mean" LOL

she is the same way. I don't know what to do about it. I'm usually GREAT at training dogs...but this one has me stumped

That's so funny! Rebel does the same thing to Lucy now. I've seen him wait until she was all settled in with a toy or treat and literally run up her back to try to get to her face hair

Apollo does this too to smaller Rosi, but watch out when she had enough, then she sets him in his place and then he runs for shelter on someones lap and pouts

LOL London does this same thing to get away from Teddy, she will hide under a stool where he can't get in and then growl at him from under there and then make a run under something else. Although she is the bully here and can easily tackle Teddy he will not stop following her cause of her heat, even tho they both have diapers on.

My little Diesel is a bully also. I feel bad for Dylan, Diesel will just reach out and bite Dylan for no reason as he walks by and he loves to chase him and bite him in the butt. I don't worry about either one of them getting hurt because they are almost the exact same size. Dylan's tail hair is getting pretty thin from Diesel hanging on as he chases him around. I guess Dylan must not mind to much because I've seen him get after Diesel when he means business (like when Diesel tries to steal a favorite toy or treat).

I wish Diesel would be sweet like Dylan.

I hope it all works out. I'm sure it will in time. I suppose someone has to be the bully!

Hahaha at least your yorkies seem logical. I have the opposite with my two. My 5 pounder Sassy is the bully to her larger sister Lulu who weighs 8 pounds. She will hog the dry food bowl and growl and keep her larger sister away. I would think they would be able to see the difference in their sizes but they don't. And whenever Sassy wants Lulu to become excited about something like someone at the door or treat time, to get her riled up she will run over and nip her on the chest which is about where her mouth hits Lulu. It is kinda funny that the agressive personality overshadows the size in our household.

Dee told me to keep Penny in a harness and on a leash when trying to break this habit. The idea is that when the other dogs come in the room, or near her I have to make her sit. When she does I praise her, and let her slowly near the other dogs. If she starts I have hold of the leash and I'm in total control. She said it would take about two weeks to get her to stop. I'll keep you updated as we go along.
