| Izzy is in her first heat..... I am not sure when it actually started, but on Friday I took her to my moms because we were going out of town. I don't keep a diaper on her at home anymore, so I put one on her when I got to my moms. Well she was walking funny so I took it off to adjust it. On her pad was a few dark brown spots. I thought maybe I missed it and it was at the end of her cycle. Well needless to say when I picked her up my mom said she is definately in heat. I haven't checked her yet so I don't know how red it is or if it even matters. Is there something I should be doing for her? She does still have the diaper on. She is acting ok, nothing out of the ordinary. She is 9 months old. She will be 10 months on the 21st of September.

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | No, don't think there's anything special you need to do for her while she's in heat. Just keep a diaper or something on her while she is bleeding to keep from getting spots on furniture, your clothes, or such. Also, you'll need to keep the males away from her. Since this is her first heat, it is too early to breed her.

| Be sure to keep males away from her and NEVER leaver her unattended outside or with a male. Not even for a minute...males can smell a female in heat a mile away and will do anything to get to them...no matter how solid you think your fence is. I would be really careful with her for at least 3-4 weeks
