OMG your poor baby! :( I just now saw this post. I'm glad that it's nothing more, and the injury is supposed to be easily repaired. Were sending wishes on a speedy recovery for him! |
I'm so so happy that your little one will be ok. What a scary and long ordeal you have both been through. Do you free feed dry kibble? Thats what i've been doing with Bella (she weighs 1.7) and she gets wet food 3x a day as well. She (knock on wood) hasn't had any instances of hypo |
Omg So glad to hear he is better. It brought tears to me eyes when I saw the cast. Megan sends her love. :aimeeyork and hopes she gets much better soon:animal-pa |
I am so glad that he's doing better! :) Yay!! |
Another Yorkie on here has a cast. Maggie. Her mom made a little cover for it it was real cute. I think it helped keep it from rubbing her skin too. Glad he is OK now. |
Thank you all so much again. And yes he has stopped the head tilt, and is running around dragging that cast like he couldn't care less about it. He's back to his old playful puppy self. Thank God for that. I tell you this, I have never cried as hard as I did last night. I was about to have a panic attack myself. I hope that none of you ever have to go through that with your furbabies. About his feeding, I usually keep dry food out for him all day, and then feed him can food in the morning and evening. The vet says that I just need to evaluate his bowl and make sure he is eating at least a tablespoon of food every few hours. He only weighs right at 2 lbs. and he is 13 weeks old today. I just really have to start watching him more, just like I would my children to ensure they are eating. |
Oh wow...I just found this thread, I am so very sorry I wasn't here for you sooner. I hope and pray all will be okay with Trigger's little leg...it will just take some time to heal. Make sure he eats, feed canned food small feedings more frequently. Leave dry kibble out at all times. Even add a little Karo syrup or natural honey to his drinking water (just a small amount will do) or add some to his canned food. And always have the Nutrical with you...don't leave home without it!!! Will keep Trigger and you in my thoughts and prayers...poor baby... |
I'm glad that's all it was. When we were going through seizures with my Reggie, the vet told us that "most" of the times, the seizures themselves are nearly harmless, but like people, the more dangerous part is how else they can hurt themselves.... hit their head, strain or tear something. I'm glad that he is no worse for wear. Now, if YOU can just do the same!! ;) |
I am so happy to see your post. I have been worried all day. I am so Thankful he is going to be ok. I told hubby last night that it was going to be a long night for you. Winstin and I send lots of hugs and kisses to Trigger, you and your husband. That had to be quite an experience for you. Happy healing Trigger!!! Yorkie Hugs & Kisses, Jen & Winstin |

Yay!!! So glad your baby is going to be OK!!!!:D:D:D Just keep feeding the little guy. Perhaps the best way to monitor the amount he eats, is put one tablespoon of food down at a time. After a couple of hours, see if the bowl is empty. That way, you will know exactly how much he is eating in a 24 hour period. How is his appetite at the moment? Tell you hubby he gets 5 stars from me, and to keep the cuddles going. |
I'm glad you found out what was wrong with him and that he should heal easily and is feeling a lot better. |
AAAAWWWW he looks so cute with his cast. I'm very plesed his injury was not too serious. You must have gone through hell!! Like most of us on here you are now going to be an over protective mommy ;) It is amazing how goo goo most men are over their Yorkies - I lost my little girl to Hubby, so he had to buy me another :) :) Not complaining mind you. |
Oh, bless him. Maggie has had that same cast on now for 7 weeks ;) They get very used to it and before you know it, it will be like the cast isn't there. He will be running around and you will be holding your breath ;) maggie's injury was a little different. She actually fell and broke her leg in 2 places. But she is healing pretty good so far and we are hoping to have the cast on next week. I'm glad the vet educated you on the low blood sugar. Nobody warned me about it and I almost lost maggie. She was all but dead the 2nd day we had her. I thought I was going to die with her. But thank God for the internet and I was able to learn so much..and that is where YT came and helped...the people on here taught me soooo much. and thankfully we have not had an incident since that night. glad to hear he is doing ok...maybe next time they change the cast they will have some different colors to choose from ;) |
Awww...bless him. I'm so thankful you have it all figured out and that he will be fine. Poor little guy!!!! Get some rest, I'm sure you are exhausted after this ordeal. Keep us posted on his recovery. Hugs |
Tigger is such a cutie:) I'm glad you found out what the problem is and he's going to be all right! Rebel had LP and torn ligaments and had surgery a few weeks ago. He's fine now and you'd never know anything had happened. They heal so quickly, this will be a bad memory before you know it:) |
