| Update on Lilly & her baby Girl Just popping in to let all our new friends know that Lilly and her baby are doing wonderful Baby girl had her first official vet check today. She also got her tail docked & her dew claws done. No one ever told me just how horrible that experience was going to be There must be a kinder or less painful way to go about this tail docking??? Would maybe tieing something (elastic or string) and cutting off blood supply for a day or two prior be any better? I'm not sure if it's the same thing or not, but that's how we did our lambs tails & casterated our cows on the farm. I'm sure that hurt too... but at least we didn't hear them screaming like this poor little girl did. It broke my heart & I sincerely started to cry at one point hearing her screaming out like that. I know it only lasted about 10-15 minutes... but it seemed like forever, and she's still wimpering off & on hours later. On a happier note, we are trying to deside on a name for this little (big) girl, and I am torn between two. I like Emily for her, but believe it or not Molasses is kinda starting to grow on me too We already have a Lilly of course, then Shylah, Abby, Dixie, Kya, Tucker, Little-Man & Lightning. I'm thinking an Emily would fit in nicely, since it doesn't really sound like any of the others... although niether does molassas 'lol' She has grown a ton since her first appearance late Sat night. She started at 125-130 grams & is now a whopping 222 grams tonight I believe that converts to just about 7 3/4 ounces from her original 4 5/8 oz. She is definatey taking full advantage of having all that milk to herself & becoming a very pudgy little girl. We'll put up more pics soon |
