| Depressed puppy ??? I have no clue if Mocha is depressed or if something is seriously wrong with her, but I'm worried. Last night she wouldn't sleep in bed with me and when I picked her up she was shaking, that is so not the norm for her. She shakes when we are somewhere new but never at home. She wanted to sleep in her crate which is odd, she'll sleep in it during the day but never at night. So I left her sleep in it last night. This morning I took her outside to potty we came in and she ate breakfast but went to sleep in her crate instead of playing with me. She slept all day, wasn't interested in me at all. Every time I pick her up she is shaking, but if you put her down she stops. She has no interest in being held or cuddling and that is so not her. She's slept all day, still sleeping now and has no interest in playing. Now my husband went away last Thursday and will be gone for a month, this is the first time he's been gone since we brought her home. He thinks she is depressed and misses him. When he is home they don't really interact that much, I'm the one who feeds, takes her out, baths, plays and cuddles with her. I don't know what to do, should I take her to the vet? Or is it just that she misses him and I shouldn't worry? I miss my puppy!!! ------------------- Mocha ~ 13 months ~ 3 lbs 1 ou |

| Sounds like she's sick to me. I would have her checked out by a vet to be sure. It sure could be that she's missing daddy, but I wouldn't want to take any chances with a little one.

| Sometimes when they act like that and show no visable signs of sickness, I just wonder if they may have had a really bad dream and they of course may interpret it as being real. Maybe she had a bad dream about you. Since they do forget things shortly after, the emotion of trauma will linger. I'd give her another couple of days unless she gets worse, then I'd have her checked over. |

| Take her to the Vet. for Security I would take her to the Vet. to stay on the safe side. Once the Vet. gives her an exam, I'm sure you'll feel better just knowing. When you say that she shakes when you pick her up makes me think that she has some discomfort in her abdominal area. Maybe her tummy is upset. Have you tried to palpate the areas of her abdomen, while she's lying down, to see if she shakes then? On the other hand, if you're feeling sad about your hubby being away, she's probably picking that up and feeling sad too. |

| Thank you everyone for your help and advice, I called the vet this morning and she has an appointment for this afternoon. So of course now she is acting normal today! She played this morning, followed me around the house while we got the girls ready for school and is napping on my lap. Just like any little child she is making a lair out of mom. Still taking her into the vet just to make sure everything checks out fine. I was just so worried yesterday, she's never acted like that before. |

| Rowdy will do that (not the shaking part) but not wanting to sleep with us when he doesn't feel good. At least that's what I attribute it to. Sometimes when this happens, I will notice a loose stool or I will find some throw up, but sometimes, I don't have any visible signs of not feeling well, except for not wanting to sleep with us and sleeping more during the day.

| I'd get her to the vet, so you can have some piece of mind, and she can get the attention she needs.
