| I'm not a vet, but ones I've talked to say around 6-9 months. Many say this is a good time too cuz then they can get any baby teeth removed that are still retained and only have to go under once (I don't know about you but putting my babies under even once scares me a little). Just be sure since yorkies are so small that the vet takes extra care...good idea to get blood tests before to make sure there aren't any health concerns that might complicate things and also blood pressure and heart rate should both be monitored during the whole procedure. |

| 16 weeks as long as they are at least two pounds. A lot of vets still wait until 6 months though because that is the "traditional" thing to do. If I had a male, I'd neuter as early as possible. And the younger they are at the time of surgery, the easier it is to recover - the young ones recover so fast.

| I'd say 6 months (for small dogs, large and medium dogs should be done later), both my boys were done at that age. Anyway in the UK most vets will not do them before 6 months. |

| I also want to get Milo "done", and my vet said 5 months or later. He recommend me to do it at 5 or six months, before his little body starts producing adolescent hormones. |

| I've always heard that the earlier, the better, as long as it doesn't compromise the health of the dog.

| My male was neutered when I got him at 8 weeks. They used the laser treatment, which can be done even before puberty. It is much less archaic than the old way of doing things, and can be done at a younger age. Your vet is going to be the best expert on the subject and the ways available to you in your area.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | My Marcel is little (2 lb. 11 oz.) at 9.5 months old - so we're waiting until this month to get him neutered. Tinies should be spayed/neutered a bit later to allow them time to gain as much of their potential weight as possible.
