Senior Yorkie Talker | helping my new pup overcome his shyness good day... meet my first yorkie pup, reeses... (i posted some pics in the gallery) his birthday is the 7th of April, 2007. i just got him this august. he's with me for a week now. so far, he has not shown any illness (thanks God!) and he's very energetic, playful and easy to housebreak... however, i noticed his shyness... i own other dogs in the house but i can't make my yorkie play with them since they are huge dogs (am bulldog). i think he must have developed his shyness from where he was brought up. i think he's the least of the hierarchy of yorkies in there. what are good activities to engage in for my lil reeses to regain the innate yorkie confidence? is a week still early to tell if my yorkie a really shy one? hope to hear from you guys.... thanks! |

| Is he shy with other dogs or people or both? One week may not be long enough to gage how hes going to be

| Welcome to YT!!! I just saw his pictures and he is so cute!!! Did he have siblings??? My Momiji was with 5 other puppies when I picked her up. (2 are her siblings and 3 are other litter) So she is very good with other dogs and I took her to puppy class. If you only had him for a week, I agree with Chachi that he isn't ready to come out of his shell yet. Where in No Cal do you live??? I'm in San Mateo if you are near by, I can bring my baby out so your Reeses can get used to smaller dog!!! Let me know!!! |

| Well good I am glad hes comfortable with people. You could enroll him in a petsmart class where he will be with other dogs. Also visit dog parks wiith them. As far as having a playmate I dont know if that would make him any less shy or not. I do have two and they do very well together. One of mine is shy around other people and that has not changed and I have tried to socialize her.

Senior Yorkie Talker | When I got my Reeses, I got to meet his beautiful mommy, his breeder-sized sister and his chubby brother. His previous owner is really fond with yorkies. Aside from my yorkie's immediate family, there are four more yorkies ranging from young adult to adult! Those were the owner's keepers and not for sale. I came across a breeder's site on-line and it says that when you start having your first yorkie, you can't just have one... I'm quite having this urge of getting my lil Reeses a playmate. However, I realized I'll be cutting my time for him in half. I must focus on him first and ensure I am really capable of taking good care of him. I probably get another one when I have enough lessons learned about yorkies. It's really a big help that there is a forum like this on the net. Must I wait for a few days or weeks more before I send him to a puppy school? I take him out from time to time but it just worries me when he gets shaky... even when we're inside the car. He goes panting inside the car. He does not want to be in carriers and prefer me to hold him when we're on the road. We're from Milpitas. My husband and I are planning to find a new pet friendly apartment in San Jose, though. I'm just turning 24 but I can't have kids. I glad I found my baby in my lil Reeses though. I just stay at home so I'm with my yorkie 24/7! I take pictures of him almost everyday (thanks to cam-phones!) |
