Donating YT 30K Club Member | ![]() I just read where Hooves aren't good for them and can carry salmonella and since mine seem to get upset stomachs a lot I threw out all their hooves. They are going to be so mad when they figure it out!!!! What can I get to replace them? They don't seem to like nylabones, rawhide is out and I don't want anything they actually eat. Any ideas would be appreciated.

| ![]() How about trying out kong toys? THey also make really hard rubber tire kongs where you can hide treats. Wickett loves chewing on his. He's also got these rubbery bones that are flavored and make great chewing material........can't remember the name now, will have to find it. |

| ![]() I give Samson those little Dingo bones and make sure to watch him while he eats it. Sometimes I even hold it for him so I can be sure he doesn't get a big piece off and swallow it. Sometimes I give him these tendon things (sounds gross I know) that are made by Merrick. He seems to like those, but like anything else I watch him to make sure he's eating it o.k. As far as something non-edible the only thing I can think of would be some sort of rubber type of toy that can be knawed on a little but can't easily have pieces chewed off. Now that Samson is older he has a hollow, soft plastic ball that he likes to sort of munch on but he doesn't really chew it. He kinda looks like he's gumming it, even though he obviously still has his teeth. ![]() |

| ![]() My breeder said to give Kalina the flat rawhide chews but never the rolled rawhide...I don't know why but I give K the flat ones and she likes them. I also give her bully sticks. I never give her the hooves. So far she seems ok with them and they take forever to chew up.

| ![]() JJ chews on Kong balls. She loves them! I'm sure you know not to give greenies. We use to give them to Tilly until we found out how bad they are.

I buy natural bones in a family pet store that I deal with. They are already cleaned. They also come in several sizes so you can pick the right size. That is all Buddy chews on. He actually has put dents into those bones from chewing.

| ![]() Yes, it's a natural white bone, I believe it to be a beef bone. You can also buy them in you supermarket but those need to be cleaned from the meat, fat that are left on them. Some use them to make soup. They are very thick and no way can choke on them. I buy them already cleaned and dried. Look in any pet store where they sell the raw hides usually they are in their own bin. Just pick one that fits your babies mouth. There are not many small ones at times so I pick them up when I see them. If you have trouble finding them pm me and I will be happy to get one for you and mail it. |

| ![]() Yikes - should they not be chewing on rawhide? I just bought her one today that she LOVES! The lady at the pet store told me they have no calories and are basically made of nothing but dried skin so they are ok. I need to go get that from her! |

Are you talking about a whole ham? The ham slice bone I would be afraid they would swollow. Ham is a no no for Yorkies but not sure about the bone. It's really large though isn't it?
