I'm so sorry to hear this. I know how attached you can get in just a short period of time. Please don't feel guilty (or your fiance). Eveyone of us has stepped on our yorkies at one time or another, and it is absolutely heartbreaking. We will keep you and Joey in our prayers. Please keep us posted on his progress... |
You are all in our thoughts and prayers! XoXoXoXoXoXo Fran and Sammi |
Oh, Mercy!!!!!!!! I am so sorry to hear this news. But, it sounds like the baby is being taken care of well. And, listen to your vet. Lung contusions are bruises and they take time to heal. The brain swelling is also manageable with steroids. I am from the OLD school of nursing and I knew an old doc who would write in his orders...TOT...That stands for Tincture of Time, meaning that time will be the healer. We are praying for you both and your baby. My hubby is always "drop-kicking" our babies. I keep telling him not to start a step without knowing where his feet are. These babies are very resilient and your BF will never walk the same again. He will develop what we lovingly call "The Yorkie Shuffle". In our house we walk like 90 year olds on walkers.. Please keep us up-dated on Joey's progress.. |
I am so sorry you guys are going through such heartache! I will keep you guys and Joey in my prayers!! |
Im sure your baby will be fine. Positive thoughts :) We will pray for him |
My prayers are with you. I know its a horrible feeling. Think positive thoughts are pray. It does work |
Joey is stable on oxygen, but he has pulmonary lung contusions and some swelling in his brain. The vet is saying that Joey needs time - it is hard to tell whether he is going to pull through this or not. He says that dogs have pulled through this in the past, but of course there are dogs that haven't. We feel like we have our mother or father in ICU right now - we are just grieving so hard and don't know what to do. All we do is wait for the next phone call from the vet. We may have to put him to sleep, but it is just too early to tell - has anyone gone through this??? Do you know of any positive incidents where the puppy pulled through and survived? We just really need support and optimism right now. Thank you all. Keep Joey in your prayers. There is hope!!! My baby was attacked by a 75 lbs german shepherd and the doctors did not think he would make it. His chest was full of fluid and his left lung was collapsed. He was on full oxygen and tubes coming out of every where. It was hard to see him like that. The first day he was pretty much out of it and all he did was lay there. The next day when I went to go see him he was still just laying there but when he heard my voice he tried to stand up and his little tail was wagging away. I wanted to pick him up and kiss and hugg him but he was in ICU and they told me I couldn't so I just sat there till he went back to sleep. Each time I went to go see him he got better better. I wanted him to know that I was there and didnt wan't him to be scared and think that I just left him there in that scarry place. He was in the hospital a total of 5 days. And is home with me today!!! I will pray for you and your baby!!! |
That is great..Gus is a trooper..my prayers are with you guys as well |

It's so hard to be at home and around all of his toys, etc. My fiance and I left the apartment for a little bit, and it helped to breathe in some fresh air, but there is still the "black cloud" that seems to be looming over us right now. Poor, poor Joey. He is so tiny and vulnerable, but I know that he is a fighter. I want to go visit him, because I think that it will help him to hear our voices ....my fiance does not want to go because he doesn't think he can handle it, but I need to see my baby. Thank you all for your prayers - keep sending the blue light to Joey!!! |
Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. Our puppy was in the emergency room all last week I completely understand how you are feeling. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. |

I truly encourage you to visit him as much as you can . Tubes and everything may be impressive to see . I went everydays when Zsa Zsa was hospitalized . 2 times she was unconscious , when she came back from it , she was so happy to see that I didn't forget her there and start to feel better . |
