My grandma tells me that I spend too much on the dog and that I ought to spend my money on "myself' but I kind of consider it buying stuff for myself... anything I buy for him, I'm buying so that we can enjoy it together. I also emphasize that Bear LIKES to have clothes on! He won't go outside in the morning without something covering him (he is prissy and doesn't like the wet grass) and he will actually bring me clothes to put on, and sit still while I dress him! Sometimes he doesn't want to wear anything, and he bites at his clothes, so I take them off him. I only dress him in things he wants to wear. If they still persist, I just tell them that I am practicing for when I have a people-baby. Since it is mostly family (and my family wants me to have a baby reeeeeally badly) they stop after that one. Now, there is a lady who goes to our local pet store, and tries outfits on her little dog. She holds up a little mirror to the dog and asks her "Do you like that? Which one do you like better???" ummm.... yeah, that's a little crazy lol. -O |
Mostly I get cute comments about sawyers clothes; but one man told me it was a waste of time and money to put clothes on a dog. I told him it is a waste of money to buy cigarettes, bet on games, and drive a car that drinks gas (suv), but so many people do it for the pleasure that it is no waste to them, and haveing my sawyer all duded out is no waste for me.:) |

(She goes with me everywhere she can) i love her so much and DEFINATELY did NOT get her so i could carry her around in my purse and be like "paris hilton".. haha. But i know what your sister is saying, i guarantee people think that(i see u live in orange county, and so do i). Even though those people are completely wrong when they place that judgment.. they can think what they want, right? (And just like someone else said before-they are more than likely dressed like crap themselves and are probably pissed an adorable doggie has more style then them-not to mention having her hair done better too!!:p) -But i am a hairstylist so what would that say if Avery had some crazy hair, right? haha. im sure your lil one is adorable and no matter what you do the 'haters'(ignorant people) are always gonna hate/judge you for one thing or another-so just do your thing and enjoy ur little ones company(nakey or not) ;) (..and at least you'll look good, doin what ur doin!!) |

I worked at a dog boutique/grooming salon until I started vet school a couple weeks ago. Lacy still goes up there some afternoon to hang out with the owner and her two yorkies. Today I was picking her up as a lady was picking up her schnauzer puppy from grooming. Of course Lacy was all dressed up. The lady said, "aw how cute..that's so funny." and I asked her "why?" She just said that it was just funny. I told her she dressed up every day, and she asked me if she liked it and I told her yes and that she has worn clothes since she was a puppy. So today reminded me that a lot of times people are like, "awww...cute...and that's funny." So I thought I'd finally ask why it was so funny. LOL |
I have a few that are cold and I put sweaters on them. I dress the pups up some of the time--they all have matching walking vests--5 or 6 dogs in matching red vests stops traffic. Sometimes I put the girls in their harness dresses--depends on the weather and where we are going. Do I care what people think?? Not one bit. |
I love dressing mine up, but usually only do it for function (harness dresses, coats, pj's, sweaters, ect) or when we are going out somewhere. When I first got Bentley I bought him a baby tee shirt as his first clothing item. We don't have any upscale boutiques here and I wanted something for chilly nights. I took him to my dads sub shop and some smart a*s guy was talkin about how dressing dogs up is inhumane and stupid. He asked me if I was trying to be like Paris Hilton, ugh. I told him number one, it was none of his business, number two.. small dogs enjoy the protection of clothing, and number three maybe he should take a style clue from Paris Hilton and at least wear some pants without stains all over them, yuck! That shut him up :) |

I've been pretty fortunate and haven't gotten rude comments about Rocky and Bella when I take them out. I'll get the occasional "are they t-cups?"...but that's about it. If someone does say something to you about buying them ANYTHING (clothes, toys, etc) just say "Oh I'm sorry, was I spending your money?" :p |

Lucy and Rebel LOVE wearing clothes. They try to take them away from me when I undress them. I've always gotten the "cute" comments when people see them. My entire family gets a kick out of seeing them all dressed up. I've never been known for keeping my mouth shut and if anyone made a rude comment they'd get their feelings hurt! |

I dress Abby up everytime we leave (except when its too hot) and i have never recieved one mean or rude comment. Just tons of compliments about how adorable she looks :D |
Usually I hear ahh or how cute. My ex boyfriend complained while we were together. He said that aurora had more clothes than him. I said let me dress her up or let me have a real baby. We went shopping for more puppy clothes that night....LOL. His daughter is 8 and she loves dressing Aurora as well. She will always pick out new outfits for her or if we are in a store, she will say that aurora has to have this outfit. Aurora is getting better about getting dressed, I tell her lets get dressed and then she holds still and lets me put it on her. |
