People will think we're weird?? I was at a dog boutique with my sister, and I wanted to buy tons of clothes for Zues and Lulu. She refused saying that people will think we're weird dressing them up. At least I was able to buy matching outfits for the two of them. For those of you who dress up your dogs, do you find that people stare at you and/or make rude comments? What do you say to them? It won't stop me from dressing Zeus up, but I just want to be prepared with some quick comebacks. |
Most people think it's cute... Even me, I am a 24 year old guy. We dress up Peanut sometimes: 'Vicious' Hoody, t-shirts, etc... Some people will always be rude, but if you are taking your little ones to places where other dog owners are, most people are excited to see them dressed up |
Sometimes I get rude comments, but mostly just "oohs and ahhs" over how cute he is. :D |
This should be a good thread...well...right now I'm just getting the "ohhh...she's so cute" thing, but that was when I was a novice YTer and not in "the know" about clothes and hair fashion. :D We'll find out soon when I start to dress Izzy up more since it will start to get cold outside (in the works are sweaters, Halloween costume, boots, etc.). So hopefully some of you "seasoned" fashionistas will tell us "newbies" some quick combacks to use. |
My sister thinks if we dress up our dogs, people will think we are trying to be like Paris Hilton. |

If anyone thinks I'm strange for dressing my dogs they don't say it to my face. Most folks will comment on how cute they look. For those who are skeptical, I often tell that that Yorkies get very hot and very cold real easily, so the clothes help with their body temp regulation!! |

Once I got, "Why would you put clothes on a rat?" |

No one has made rude comments to me about mine being dressed. Only good comments |

Oh heck, if it were me, I would of just bought what I wanted anyway lol :p I have NEVER had anyone say that they think it's weird...and have never had any strange looks either. Of course my mom and my sister will make comments saying that my babies are too spoiled (THEY ARE, so what? :p) but it is just something they say and then giggle about - they actually think it's so cute though and love looking at all their cute new clothes when they come over. They just get the biggest kick out of it :p |

No one has said anything bad about me dressing them, only good comments. They think it's cute. If someone does say something bad i would either ignore them, say "Don't be mad cause they are cuter than you" or if it's the winter tell them they need it to keep warm. |
when ppl say that dogs are not meant to wear clothes then i say well humans werent supposed to either but we do anyway so why is it wrong for a dog to? no strangers have yet said anything about princess (only friends) and they better hope they dont cuz i will get really defensive and will most likely say something extremely rude back about their appearance :p |

I usually get only positive feedback. On the rare occassion that it is negative it is always from some macho man type or an old biddy...I just tell them that Bruce has thin hair and no undercoat and is not used to being exposed to the elements. |

I'm always shopping for and with Mr. Biggs. When I take him into dog stores people only look at me like I'm nuts if I'm spending ALOT of money on clothes for his at once. But If I'm buying him a few items, nobody ever comments. As for taking him out dressed up, the only ones that have something to say about it or think I'm nuts, are my friends (that don't have dogs) or my parents. Other than that, people pretty much get a kick out outta seeing him all dressed up... the comments I usually get are "look at the puppy... isn't he cute", "look mommy, he has a shirt", "aww, isn't that cute"... it's mostly things of that nature. BUT, if ever anyone does have something negative to say about dressing you dog, all you have to say is "At least he/she knows how to match, unlike some other people" ...but that's only if you don't feel like being nice. lol |

I've had both positive and negative comments about dressing Susanah. The negative ones used to really bother me until I decided "my give-a-damn's busted". Now I just smile, and thank them for their opinion, and continue to shop and buy Susanah clothes. |
ooohs and aaahs mostly ..... |
2 Attachment(s) It is comforting for little dogs to have something hugging them tight. It gives them the feeling that they are being held when they aren't. I know that sometimes my dogs don't like it, but a lot of times they are more comfortable in something than being naked. But since we've moved to TX, they have been having a lot of naked time!!! Attachment 144978Attachment 144979:eek: YAY NAKED TIME!!! |

Oh, I had to cover my eyes! That was like yorkie porn! LOL :p |
Actually people think it's cute. My pool man loves when I dress Penny up. He even took pictures with his cell phone. |
Most people say my Yorkie is cute when I dress him up and I have tons of clothes for him and a few pieces of winter coat. Even my sceptical hubby is now okay with it and is joining in the fun. Only one man commented negatively about him wearing a shirt but he didn't say it to me, he said it to his son who was with him so I didn't say anything. I think its a waste of my breath and time to talk to such rude people :p |
