				 | Oh, you all are great - this feedback really helps. I'm a little concerned about my breeder now, after reading this thread. He insisted on the pups all leaving today - they all just turned 6 weeks old. And, he was a big advocate on not docking the tail. Seems it is a subject with different opinions. Because this pup is going to be my new baby, I'm happy with him just the way he came. I've no plans to breed or show with this pup, just bought it to love......so I've decided to leave the tail as-is. 6 weeks old.....wow.....such a baby - good thing I'm at home 24 hours a day. I planned being with the pup every moment anyways, so that's good. I'm very happy with my pup, but now wished I had known all this info, before adopting the first puppy I found available. But, like I said, I bought myself a adorable companion, and going to try really hard to be a good mommy! I lost a baby a few months ago, so this will help me to ward off that sadness a little bit . I have 2 kids already (ages 12 and 6) and they are SO excited about the pup. No name yet for the little dude! |

				 | I'm fairly new to the Yorkie community, too. You sure do learn alot in these forums, and everyone is so willing to help with issues!! It's great. Your Yorkie will become like a baby to you. Miss Pippa is more like our spoiled youngest child! I have never loved a pet like I love this one. Congratulation and Good Luck!!

				 | [QUOTE=candy4me]Hello everyone! I am bringin' home a new Yorkie puppy today and SO excited! :Puppy: I am a bit worried that I won't measure up to be a good mommy (like you all are - since you are all Yorkie Professionals!) but, I hope you won't mind me coming to you for advice once in a while. Here's the scoop: 6 weeks old today, male, w/o AKC papers, purebred But, my puppy did not have tail docked. A bit concerned about having that done, but it is recommended by a friend - I wonder how much it will cost me? And to hurt the puppy - is that OK? Hmmmm.... What do you all think? Congrats about getting a puppy!!! I am sure you will be a great mommy! Now about the docked tail I am pretty sure you can only do within the first 2 days of being born. At least that was what we were told when we had boxer puppies. That way it heals and supposedly they dont feel it but that was a LIE! Our puppies were 1 day old and they screamed and it was horrible. I wasnt even in the room with the vet becasue i get easily sick to my stomach. But I could still hear em down the hall. I will never do that again. I wouldnt recommend it. Chloes tail(my yorkie) is so cute. Besides they do so much of thier body language with thier tail and that is too cute to miss out on. Good luck
