A lady who was petting Milo on the street the other day told me yorkies cost a lot of money and that her daughter paid $400 for one. She asked how much I paid and I told her it was more than $400. She asked me if I got him from the pet store and I told her no. She just looked at me like I was some kind of an idiot for paying what I did. |

I'll take this to the next level. I always get "are you breeding them?" and when I say "yes", it's "I want one when they have puppies next time". Want one? Then they ask "how much" and I just tell them how expensive Yorkies are but not mine. |
I have a whole dif. spin on this. My friend has 2 Yorkies. their 13 Yrs. old, She told me what they cost back then, But I wanted one soooo bad. I was looking for one I could afford hoping someone could tell me where they got theres if I could afford one. THEN-- It happened. My 3 kids & hubby all got togather and got me Megan.:D I was so shocked that when I looked in the box I didn't know what it was so I screamed.LOL:D Now I am so happy & Megan is my new baby.. Hope this explains a little why some people ask. I never ment to be rude. I just wanted one sooo bad.:aimeeyork |
We have 3 Yorkies and when we have all 3 out with us we are asked how we could possibly own 3 of those expensive dogs?? We don't smoke, drink, or go out very often...we have our babies and we care for them. We just have different priorities than those that ask those rude questions!! |
What I tell people when I am asked this question. I have been asked this many times too and I simply reply, "they are God's gift to us." When they ask their names and the oldest being Baby Blessing they just smile and say oh how nice. :) :) Generally the subject isn't mentioned any further. (Can't help but to comment, it really doesn't matter what breed one has, be it a mutt, Heinz 57 variety, all dogs make wonderful companions for us when they are treated well and cared for, the loyalty from them is so amazing and much to be appreciated.) Patti and Jack Wow, just counted, throughout my life time, I have had fourteen dogs, all different breeds, loved the Dobermans, Yorkies, and one adorable mutt that my Aunt gave me at nine years of age :-) Named Mickey. |
I get asked this quite often and when I tell them how much I usually get the "Oh wow" or the "Why didn't you just get a pet from the humane society?" Now the whole "omg you paid so much" thing doesn't really bother me that much. The part I really hate is the whole humane society thing. Yes I know I could have gotten a dog there for under $200 but I didn't want a dog from there because most of them are special needs which I either cannot afford or do not have the time to look after, and I also wanted a nice little yorkie/mixed yorkie because I just happen to like the breed and am more confident getting the pup from a breeder I trust! What is so wrong with that?! Argh... the arguments I've had :( |
i alway get asked this questions and i will change my awnser all the time when im grubby and have been out cleaning stalls and my girls are dirty too i give the 5,000.00 and how it was a bargain and other people i say 200 just to annoy them when im really fed up i just say well the price will never meet how much my vet will make off of them in a lifetime |

I just don't answer anymore. I noticed that if you pay a low price them then they must have problems cause they are not expensive enough. If you pay a huge price for them then then you must be outta your mind and should have paid less. usually answering this question is a no win situation so i just say "I'd rather not say" |
I'd do it again! When one of my dogs was critically ill, I spent almost twice what I paid for her to save her life, AND I'D DO IT AGAIN, IN A HEARTBEAT!!! How can you put a price on a family member? I paid a lot less than you did on those kids of yours, meh heh heh... |
