How rude! |
I know what you mean totally...When i was first thinking of buying Pixie i confided in a couple of friends about how much i was going to be paying for her etc.. Then, when i was working with a group of people i don't know very well the topic of me getting my new Yorkie came up...one of them said.."I bet she's costing alot of money"? so i said.."yes..a fair bit" and was just going to leave it at that..but then this 'friend' that i had confided in decided to tell them all exactly how much i was paying for her!! it was embarassing for me..of course they all pulled faces and made the usual comments...."that much for a dog"!! I was NOT happy.. |
A few "comebacks" to share... At the campgrounds, many people walk in the evenings and Shelby & Seymour "attract" them. :aimeeyork I Love meeting new people, so it is a "treat" for me. The "How Much?" question has been brought up and I have 2 amswers that work wonderfully that I thought that I would share (maybe some of you would like to use them!). "I don't remember how much, but I will sell them for 5 million" or "They would be a bargain at double the price" Hope that these come in handy!;) |
price I would not tell any stranger what I paid for anything of value,, jewelry, coat etc, let alone my dog..so many Yorkies are being stolen right out of peoples arms in public places...tell people your York was a gift and have no idea... |
I find it odd that people ask-----------I would never ask someone any more than I would ask a perfect stranger how much is in their pay check each week. Very strange. |
As a breeder, and with my husband breeding beagles, it seems someone is here every day. if my yorkies are outside playing they just go ga-ga over them. then it always comes around to "what do you get out of them". That bugs the heck out of me because it really is no one's business. But it is kind of fun to see their mouths drop open. I just chalk it up to the area I live in and the ignorance of some people. |
My husband tells strangers that ask what we paid for Wicket, his replies "we could bought a car for what he cost." it throws them off guard now bear in mind he never said new car, they just awlays think that. My daughter bought a great dane and she got tried of all the remarks she got when she told the price so now she using this line. |
How Much...if you ask,you can't afford... My answer is "I gave them a scrap of paper and they gave me the puppy" And it's always true, when I handed over the cashiers check the puppy was mine. My niece has a little pug with a shirt that says "you can't afford me" I've been looking for some for mine... If anyone sees one (She got it at a Wal-Mart) please pick up two for me. Then PM me. thanks. |
I hate questions like this. :thumbdown However, you should see the looks I get when I tell them Pia came from Brazil, LOL :p |
It's MY business I ask the rude people how much they paid for their kids. I don't have human kids and they are WAY more expensive :) Alternatively, I "rescued" my pup from a bad breeder (which I did, but I still had to pay a bit for her) and we are fortunate to have Yorkies in our lives. Besides, I don't care how much I paid for my dogs nor should anyone else! |
My response has always been "Enough to bring them home with me":D |

I've found that if someone is seriouly considering getting a yorkie they pretty much know what they will cost them already... When I do get asked it's just from someone sniffing around for something to gossip about...I'm so glad no one has asked me from either side of the family,if they did know, their lips would be flapping so fast they'd be smoking........ |
I get this question a lot too and I always wonder how to handle it. I think it is such a rude question and I would never ask a stranger how much they paid for something. I like the idea of saying "you can't put a price on this face!". |
I'd just say that's a personal matter. With all the dognapping I don't want to give out anymore info. then necessary. |
