| Ears.. I trimmed the hair on Avery's ears last night, beacuse one was standing up(and has been for a while now) and the other one was floppy and down. I gave it a day to see if the other one would start to stand up as well, and it kinda just flops up and down but mostly is still down. I have heard of TAPING it. Should i do this?? and if so.. how do you do it?? Her ear seems like it wants to go up it just isnt staying (i didnt shave the hair all the way down or anything just cut it much much shorter) any advice?? She is 4 months old and is teething so i dont know if that has anything to do with it.. but i just want the other one to go up now too(so they will be the same) I have seen some threads on this but none on taping the ear or anything else besides trimming the hair. THANKS. <3

| Whatever you do, DO NOT TAPE THE EARS!!!! CoCo had a bad experience with it, and the people I have talk to says if they are ment to stand up then you shave them and they stand if not they are not ment to stand!!!! CoCo got an infection from taping and lost half an ear because the vet didnt know what he was doing . Needless to say I switched vets after that, because she lost half an ear!!!!!! But I repeate DO NOT TAPE THE EARS!!!!!! |

What happened??? That's horrible! How did she get an infection? Was she allergic to the tape? Was it left on too long? I have never heard of tape causing this problem. Please let us know details.

| No the tape was left on just like 12 hours and she didn’t like it and kept trying to scratch it while it was on. Then when I took them off she kept scratching it and rubbing her hears on the ground. I am not sure if she was allergic or what. But I advise everyone to not tape the ears. |

| I use a beard trimmer and shave the ears about 1/3. I use painters masking tape. It comes off easier than regular masking. I have never heard of such a bad reaction to the tape. Thats terrible! |
