| inflamed bowels We just got back from vacations. Deiter went with us. We went to South Dakota. We were there 5 days then he started to have the poops bad. So I watched him and the next day this still went on So then we found a vet clinic there and took him there. They ran test blood and fecal test to make sure he didn't get anything. Well those came back fine. But they did find that his bowels where inflamed. They kept him to give him some fluids by IV. But told me that I did a great job from keeping him from not losing alot of them. Which I went and got Pedialyte. To keep that up. I still don't know why this happened. He played fine, ate fine. He just pooped and pooped him self. But other than that nothing else seemed to be the matter with him. But I will tell you guys The clinic we took him to was wonderful, They called me 5 times just let me know that he was doing fine. He was there for 5 hours. I cryed when I had to leave him there some place knew and not knowing anybody. With all the stuff they did I thought that I was going to pay a arm and a leg but they where very cheap with what all they did. So does anybody know what might have caused this. I would love to hear what you think happened. |

| We've had this happen several times with Rowdy - it happens sometimes when he travels with us, and sometimes when we leave him at home. When his bowels get inflamed while we are gone on vacation and leave him home (which happened while we were gone to Alaska the past 3 weeks), the vet thinks it is the stress of us being gone - makes you real anxious to go on another vacation It seems to only happen when we are gone or when he travels with us, so there has to be a correlation. As mentioned, he will sometimes get it, but not as bad, when he travels with us. I have started giving him bottled water instead of tap water when we travel and the last trip to New Mexico for 2 1/2 weeks in May, he did not get diarrhea. I am hoping that this will do the trick from now on. Last summer on our trip to New Mexico, both he and Rexy got guiardia The vet out there said it was from either drinking water from the river or from some animal poop they got into on a walk. Now my hubby and I don't even drink the water when we travel - we only drink bottled water or soda and we find that it keeps our pipes functioning better while we travel.
